We were very impressed with this hotel. It is right on the beach and you can see spectaculer sunsets! The room we stayed in was a garden suite and was huge, clean and comfortable. The staff was very friendly and spoke several languages. There was very good music throughout the hotel. The food was also very good. We will definitely go back as we think this is a great value and a beautiful island to visit!
Traveler's tip:
Shopping is only a short bus ride away. There are name brand outlets as well as a flea market and several nice restaurants and bars all within a short distance of each other. Cruise ships dock directly across from the shopping center.

We stayed 4 nights at the Tamarjin all inclusive. Check in took a bit long, and the staff was not too friendly. Our room was small, and even though the furntiure looked new, the room needed to be painted and updated. The bathroom was pretty old and needed to be updated. Our room was however clean. The location of the hotel is great, every room has an ocean view and the hotels proximity to the airport is also a plus. The beach was never crowded, and there were plenty of chairs (they should be updated as well). The food at the restaurants we went to was good, the waitress staff could be friendlier and more knowlegable. Overall we had a great time. This hotel is perfect if you want to be on the beach, and if you don't mind staying at an older hotel.

Stayed a week from a friday thru a thursday. The staff was accomodating and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. There are numerous activities (we did horseback riding and took the submarine tour) and tours to keep you busy, and of course if you are a sun god or goddess its out 90% of the time. We had rain one day...otherwise the weather was beautiful. We ate at the cafe every morning for breakfast...they will make omelettes or eggs to order if you ask. The best of the restaurants was the papparazzi in our opinion. The mussels and the filet are definitely recommended. Only negative comments are the layout of the place. If in bldg 23-25 you will have a long walk just to get breakfast...but you are also away from the crowds. Overall the stay was great...and we will return to the hotel.
Traveler's tip:
Expect the sun to beat down on you in the middle of the day. Plan on the vigorous activities in the morning or as the sun sets.

Beaches were beautiful. Activities were great. Lots of pools to choose from. Loved the variety of restaurants and food. Red Parrot was the best hands down. Did kayaking, sailing, and biking while we were there. One night they even showed a movie on the beach! Rode bikes past the other hotels in the low-rise area and then to the high-res area and the Tamarijn really felt like the best choice. Very close to the city and not in a completely touristy area.

This was our first time for an "all-inclusive" and we were very pleased. The staff was helpful and friendly. It was nice to be away from the high rises; it seemed more relaxed. The only negatives would be that the bathroom needed updated and the food buffet could have had more variety (maybe include more island recipes). Make sure you stay in a unit a little ways from the lobby areas; the beach was not as rocky. Would defintely go back.

Rooms were ok, very clean, however not top of the line, more like a medium price hotel. The view and closeness to the beach is what is so great and unique about the resort. The food was excellent at all the restaurants and buffets especially the desserts. Reminded me of being on a cruise ship. The drinks were always flowing from 11:00am to 1:00am , however, they we'nt consistent. Depending on the bartender alot of the drinks were way too strong compared to the bars in the states. The bikes need to be updated and serviced but were usable. The watersports opened at 9:00 however, you couldn't take out a kayak, windsurfer or sailboat until 10:30 when the rescue boat arrived. Dave did a very good job on windsurfing lessons. They needed to put more of the watersport toys out to use. Beaches great, however, rocky in places. Best place to hangout was the beach between the resorts. They could use some more shade canopies for relief from the afternoon sun. Overall a happy place.

We stayed for 5 nights the beginning of October. It took a little longer than I would have liked to check in, apparently some issues with the couple ahead of us in line. The room was simple but the view was great! We stayed in the 2100 block and its a ways to the bar, the big pool, food, etc. but not too bad. The restaurants were good - must make reservations, but part of all inclusive. The buffet was good too and simple - nothing most people would turn their nose up at. There is a Hertz car rental in the lobby and prices were comparable. Our first car broke down and the second one had some issues but we made our rounds and returned it. For the all inclusive price and location you can't beat it. We would like to go back again. I don't like the high rise area - too city like and takes away from the island and the low rise area is a little too far away...this area I guess is the middle range and perfect if you ask me.
Traveler's tip:
You really only need a car for 2 - 3 days unless you plan on returning to the same place again and again through out the course of your trip. I don't really think you need to buy a trip through any of the tours...its a small island and although the street signs and maps leave something to be desired, stay calm and realize that the island is only 20 miles long. Most of the time the water is in view and will help tell you where you are. Go see the donkies.

My girlfriend and I spent a week at Tamarijn and absolutely loved it. The rooms are nothing spectacular but they don't really have to be because it's right on the beach in ARUBA. All we needed was a king sized bed, a tv and some ac. The rest of the time was spent on the beautiful beach or next to one of the many beautiful pools. We thought the food was rather good tasting and the waitors were very nice. They served everything with a smile and made you feel welcomed. We've been back for less than a week and really miss it. Best trip of my life, but I wouldn't go without a partner. Then it'd be the most depressing trip of my life. It's definitely a couple's paradise. And you don't have to be on a honeymoon. We weren't.
Traveler's tip:
Unless you're specifically looking for a time-share don't go to the presentation, even if they offer you loads of free stuff. They give you a hard sale and basically make you feel bad for sticking to your guns. It was potentially a trip ruiner. We lost a good three hours of fun in the sun.

This hotel is in a great location, with all rooms steps from the beach. All-inclusive is equivalent to worry-free in terms of food and drinks all day long, and both are decent here. The rooms are very comfortable and clean.
Traveler's tip:
As an American, I definitely noticed that the hotel staff show preferential treatment toward the Latin Americans and Europeans, who outnumber the Americans at this particular hotel.

Right on the beach, block 1900 close to the bunker bar, clean & comfortable, nothing fancy but fine for sleeping. staff was most helpful and full of info, if you just ask. Food was okay, pizza bar was great. Not alot of night time activity going on, but that was not a problem for us, overall a nice place to stay in Aruba, The Beach was beautiful.
Traveler's tip:
Take advantage of the free water equipment the Tam has to offer, we used the snorkel equipment, kayaks, mats to float on, No problem getting towels or beach chairs.

It was wonderful to step out on to the patio and with just a few more steps to be on the sand. We found some of the staff were not friendly, nor were they happy to serve.

The all inclusive package of the hotel was great, and I highly reccommend the Pina Coladas and Mexican Fries! Make sure if you do stay there that they don't put you too far down the beach. We were in the very last room and it was quite a hike to get down to all of the restaurants and bars of the hotel, we were practically in Oranjestad! Also don't rely on the hotel for transportation, they have golf carts that they will use to get you to the other hotel(Divi) and to the casino, but if you use them, then you spend half of your vacation waiting for a lift!

We had a great time! Our room was a basic ocean front room. It was clean and maintained. If you want marble floors and a flat screen, your best bet is to look at a 5 star hotel. Overall, we had an an all-inclusive package and we loved the food; from breakfast to dinner! The best was the Pizza bar, anytime after 11am you can order personal pizza's to your liking! Even with the pizza bar, where you can order french fries, chicken sandwiches etc... there was a lunch buffet that changed daily.. Who could beat an all inclusive that served fillet mignon and french fries for lunch or red snapper and your choice of veggies, mash and or fries for dinner? The hotel also was very accommodating with dinner reservations, activities and they also have gulf carts that take you around to different areas of the resort! I can list more... but overall, we loved it and would recommend it to others!

I spent the last week of August 2007 at Tamarijn Hotel. the service was bad and the staff not helful at all. Very rude personel. the only advantage was the relationship with Divi, if we had to stay only at Tamarijn would have been awful. there were many restaurant, the only one we liked was The red Parrot. for a family vacation it was ok, but i would not recomend a honey moon vacation. even though we met a lot of honey moners there. we rented a jeep for 24 hours for $100 gas included. we vesited the natural pool, california light house, natural bridge and the baby beach was very nice. we had to drive off road to go to these places, the roads were very bad, there were moments that the car was about to turn, but it was worth it. it costs $75 per person if you do it with the tour people. we followed the tour cars to go to most of these places. The city itself did not have much to offer. I would prefer the Dominican Republic, Punta Cana beter than Aruba, the beaches there are much more beautiful and the stuff is oustanding.

We were there from Aug 4-11. The Tam was full when we booked so they put us in the Dutch Village. We loved it and will return. The room was spacious and the pool was just outside the patio door. The Bunker Bar is a 2 minute walk and the other bars and restaurants 4 minutes. All of the staff were friendly and helpful. Can't wait to go back!
Traveler's tip:
There are 3 grocery stores within walking distance. Buy bottled water and room snacks there. At the Tam/Divi, don't miss dinner at Red Parrot or Ginger. In town, go to Iguana Joe's. Skip Carlos & Charlies.

The hotel was great and we really enjoyed the all inclusive part. We never went hungry or thirsty. There are alot of different options for dinning and all of the food was great. The staff working at the bars cartered to the kids when they would ask for drinks or food and served them promplty so that they were not waiting long.
Traveler's tip:
If you dont't have a car there are still plenty recreational activities avaiable. You can sign up for many different activities in the lobby or by the rockwall and they will arrange free transportation from the hotel and back. We did jet skies, parasailing, snorkling, snuba, and a jeep trip just to name a few.

Love all the staff, room was great, stayed in the Dutch Village, bed was too hard, but everything else made up for it. Had a great view over the pool
Traveler's tip:
make sure to go to el gauchos downtown. It was the best steak we have ever eaten. The cigar bar that they have you wait for your table in, is not smokey at all.
