Great Place to stay for relaxation. Food is expensive, however marketplace has cheaper food and drinks. Pisces has the best conch and pizza meal. Food served is alot one serving is enough for 2. Agave latin fusion serves the best mussles, they need to improve on wait services.

Locals will try to sell time shares as the island has quiet a few of them, recommend do it once get a free breakfast sit around for their presentation you will get a free island tour out of it plus a bottle of rum or t-shirt. With free breakfast make sure to try the coconut french toast.

Traveler's tip:

The Grand Bahama nature tour is worth every penny. Tour 1 which includes kayaking, nature walk, visit to the caves includes lunch and swimming in the ocean is breath taking.

Great Hotel, very clean and modern. The rooms were big, comfortable beds, nice bathrooms. Nice casino on premises and the Port Lucaya area across the street is great. Live music on the weekends.

Traveler's tip:

Food at the hotel itself is ok. Breakfast buffett is great if you are looking for a lot of food. I would recommend going across the street to Port Lucaya for most meals to save some cash. There are a few higher end places to eat that will give you a better meal than some of the hotel food.

Very Nice hotel enjoyed the proximity to the beach. Lots of pools liked the one with the beach chairs in the pool itself. I lived in the Caribbean for years and this hotel was quite nice - and I am picky.

Traveler's tip:

Bus to town inexpensive, frequent board by the police station near the hotel. Nice local restaurants; Beckys (try the guava duff for dessert) and Genevas. Had excellent dinner at the hotel Restaurant Iries and Sabor across the street -sunset view was beautiful. Best shopping on island is just across the street! I grabbed a fly fishing rod from AdvancedFlyFishing.com (great prices on travel fishing rods that pack small)fished west end on a rainy day very nice bone fishing!

The staff was most accommodating but I was disappointed the overall condition of the resort. Two pools were closed. Only one restaurant for breakfast, two places for lunch & one for dinner except for Friday & Saturday. I was surprised that food cost was about the same as the "Strip" in Vegas. The note here is that it is not "CHEAP" there anymore. Best thing: The beds, they are very good.

Traveler's tip:

They are many things to do in the Bahamas. The reason I go there is to rest, relax, enjoy good drinks & spend time with my wife. When going make sure you know why you are going. I'm ready to go back!

Our Lucaya property is very clean. Rooms and beds are heavenly. Ocean Front view was spectaluar. All the employee from the Maid to the gift shop were very friendly and imformitive. I have stayed at this property 8 times. Each yr I go back at least once. I have been to this location 18 times, when it was just a small Holiday Inn.

Traveler's tip:

Lucanio's at the Marketplace is great for a nice dinner. Zobra's has great food for all 3 meals reasonably priced. Pieces has the best pizza, better than the states. The Marketplace is where to go for cheap drinks and no rowdy people here...very quiet and laided back.

The hotel was excellent but the food was a little pricey. No problem though, there were some very good restaurants across the street at Port Lucaya. The prices were better and the food was great. The gym had some up to date equipment and was very clean. And best of all, there was no additional charge to use the gym. Some hotels, ie. Las Vegas, will charge $20 - $30 per day to use the gym. Anyway, we had a great time. Very relaxing trip.

Traveler's tip:

The restaurants across the street from the hotel had some great food at a good price. Plus drinks were about half the cost of the hotel.

Room was clean and bed was comfortable. Food prices were very high and the quality was average, as would be expected. The infinity pool was great but not very kid-friendly with the bar and associated crowd. The beach at the back of the resort was very clean and had plenty of space for swimming. It was one of the nicest I have seen in quite a while.

Traveler's tip:

The market across the street has some good restaurants tucked away in the back behind all of the touristy gift shops. Churchills restaurant on the resort is the best but expect to pay $100-$150 for two adults, including drinks.

Just got back from the Westin. For the first time, our family did not want to leave the place. It had something for everyone, including the incredible infinity pool, lovely beach with little coral that actually had resident lion fish..it was small enough and we(my kids and I) were careful to check it out from the distance. BUT it felt like we were inside the aquarium. The activities were all near by, including the shopping and trapeze! and also the port was close enough to walk to sail out to the Dolphin encounters and snorkeling/sailing on the catamaran(SP?) Will definitely go back..by the way, the Subway rest across the street had same menu and same price as it was in the US, very inexpensive!

Traveler's tip:

expect to support the local economy..but you can not beat the Subway sandwiches with the same price.

The facility is beautiful and well tended but other parts of the island obviously still reeling from the hurricanes of a few years back. Staff is very accomodating. The hotel does tend toward large groups that seem to take over the place. Food & drink "on property" are very expensive though did enjoy dinner at Churchills. The opening/closing schedule for these is confusing as well. Great place to go if you want to relax but there's not much to do other than pool, beach and gamble (but it's not much of a casino). The local shopping is pretty slim pickings if that's your thing. For the rate, it is a lovely place. If you get a well priced flight, the place is a beach bargain.

The resort was enjoyable and the staff was incredible, but the room I was in (albeit Starwood Preferred) was not up to normal Westin expectations. There was a persitent sour smell from the bathroom that penetrated the room. Dirty caulking, rusted fixtures, hairs on the floor made it feel like a one star hotel. Bed sheets had dark stains - not comforting at all. Westin has always been a preference, but this was somewhat of a disappointment. Good thing was I didn't spend too much time in the room.

Traveler's tip:

Make sure to hit the market across the seat and grab a fresh "conch salad" for a snack, from the vendor by the waterfront.

We had a wonderful time. The ocean view from the balcony was fantastic and worth the extra cost. The room was very nice and comfortable. The staff, especially the tennis pro, was friendly and helpful. The ocean front massage was very relaxing as was the snorkeling excursion. Spent each day swimming and reading by the ocean. Plenty of affordable shops and restaurants across the street from the resort. On friday nights they have live entertainment in the square located in the marketplace. Will definitely return one day.

Traveler's tip:

The food on the resort is kind of expensive. Also, they do not accept cash in most places so you are forced to either charge to the room or use a credit card. However, there are over a hundred shops and restaurants located just across the street. The prices there are much more affordable and they have various payment options.

look to as many local attractions and visiting other areas of the island else you may become bored unless sitting on the beach all day is all you are after

We stayed at the Westin for 5 nights, and overall, we had a nice trip. The hotel was nice and clean, but it could use a little bit of an upgrade in the rooms. The staff was very nice and helpful. The hotel grounds were very beautiful. The pools and beach are really nice. The beach and pool on the Lighthouse end of the property are less crowded. The spa was fantastic. We never ate at the hotel, as the prices were too expensive. We spent time at the casino each evening as there really isn't much to do at night. We also went snorkeling a couple times and played golf. I would recommend spending a day at Paradise Cove for snorkeling. It's a more private beach with a great reef, and lunch is included in the price.

Traveler's tip:

Eat across the street at the Marketplace restaurants. The prices are much cheaper than the hotel, the dress is always casual, and the food is very good. Restaurants to visit are The Pub (awesome jerk chicken), Pisces (good pizza and seafood), and Lucianos (great food but on the expensive side). Also, go to The Stoned Crab at Taino Beach. The food was delicious and reasonably priced.

The main problem with this hotel is the staff. It's almost as if you are a burden and not wanted. Gratuity is added to everything so there is no motivation to even smile or acknowledge your presence. We are accustomed to tipping well over 20% but refused to leave any more. We planned on spending $1,000 on other activities(tennis, massage, watersports) but decided we wouldn't give this establishment or the staff any extra money. This is not the standard quality of a Westin property. We are both seasoned travelers and will never return to the Bahamas.

Traveler's tip:

Go anywhere but here for better service. If you've already booked, eat across the street and guard your umbrella by the pool. Staff will take your umbrella if someone gives them $5.

The Westin is great; the bed is not the normal Westin Heavenly Bed. However, it was very comfortable. The staff was always friendly and pleasant - made you feel right at home.

The market across the street has a Greek restaurant with great breakfast prices if you do not want the hotel smorgsboard which is great but can be costly over a week's time.

The hotel grounds and pools were wonderful. The restuarants were overpriced for the quality of food being served. All in all just ok.

Traveler's tip:

Purchase snacks at the Lucaya market place. Make reservations at the resorts restuarants for prompted service. Otherwise walk-ins will take some time.

We were given a room at the back of the hotel on 3rd Floor which overlooked the entire air conditioning units/ducting etc which was extremely noisy (24hrs/day). Needless to say sitting out on the balcony was not an option that attracted us. The swimming pools were nice although 50% of them were closed for no given reason. Overall service of the staff was good.

Traveler's tip:

Important to remember check in is 3pm and check out is 11am so we ammended our flight times to suit.

I'll keep this short and not so sweet.... At a 4-star hotel I shouldn't have to worry about... dodging trash on the beach, my tub emptying, employees being nasty, waiting for 5 minutes at the bar to get service.. and more. I won't be going back and you shouldn't go either!

This was my husband and my second time staying at Our Lucaya Westin and we were not disappointed. We had stayed there 5 years ago when the hotel was new and they have really kept the property well maintained. We both would reccommend staying at Our Lucaya.

Traveler's tip:

Go across the street to the marina to eat, the prices are more resonable then the resturants on the resort property. Rum Runner has a wonderful Pina Colada.

Minor problems with the initial booking upon our arrival, but was quickly resolved. Power went out throughout the island but staff quickly implemented a plan that minimized any challenges associated with the lack of electricity. Nice hotel, great location. Near many attractions. particulary liked the different pools, especially the one with the bar in the water.

Traveler's tip:

Freeport is not known for spectacular shopping. It is a laid back island with more to offer in the area of water sports.

We wanted to spend a few quiet days and decided on this hotel. 20 min drive from airport, across the street (literally) from shopping and food- eating there saved us $$;(Note:tip is included in bill). Real nice pools(walk around the hotel property and enjoy all the pools).Beach was great. It is a family resort, but since we went off-season, it was quiet. Only bad thing i can say is--- the service. Kinda not very friendly.

Traveler's tip:

Cross the street and have good food, cheap drinks. Remember tip is already included.

The hotel is beautiful and the infinity edge pool overlooking the ocean is amazing. There is a bar in the main pool and the secondary pool has the lawn chairs in the water. Restaurants are very nice but pricey for what you get. The marketplace across the street is a little cheaper but not by much. The people are incredibly professional and friendly. Lots of weddings took place while we were their. Smallest one we saw was 8 people. Very romantic place & relaxing as well.
