Hotel is nice if you have a pool view since construction is being done across street. First day ran across a native in my shower,a large beattle/roach.No guess allowed in rooms after 11pm or you will be charged a fee though I wasn't. Resteraunt staff was not friendly and when I gave a tip in advance to have my order brought to the pool area I was informed it was not enough, when I questioned it at the front desk it was refunded to me. After an overflow was cleaned up housekeeping neglected the take the soiled towels and took 2 hours to replace them. It's the little things that add up to whether your time is a good one or bad one.

Traveler's tip:

the Gap is the party area for the island. Mcbrides had a great band and good party crowd.

Basic Decent Place to Stay

The Inn at the Gap is a nice, basic 2 story hotel. It's across the street from a beautiful public beach with full facilities and is within easy walking distance to all the fun restaurants in the St. Laurence Gap. The staff at the hotel was nice and good humored -typical of most Bajans. They provide towels for the beach and a delicious welcome rum punch. The included continental breakfast was sub par and the coffee was barely drinkable, but a really good english breakfast was only a short walk to the nearest pub. The rooms were large and basic with tile floors and very clean. The pool area is nice. The best thing about the hotel is it's very convenient location. One could easily spend the week there without much taxi expense.

Traveler's tip:

The absolute best meal one can have on Barbados and the most economical can be found in Oistins at the fish market. A hugh variety of fresh fish, caught that day is barbequed to order at one of the many stands there. Even my husband, who isn't much of a fish lover enjoyed it! The cost is about $12 - a hugh bargain for the portion size and quality of the meal. Take the bus, 75 cents. It's worth the trip!

My stay at 'Time Out' was a pleasant surprise! I booked late for the Crop Over season and was still able to get a great rate. It is extremely central to everything and has a beach right across the road! The food was OK but there are lots more options nearby! Would definitely return!!!

I most say this was the most enjoyable and relaxing vacation I've had in years. I'm 50ish and my daughter is 16. I was very apprehensive due to some of the past reviews. But we were extremely surprised with the service, hotel, room and amenities. Everything went smoothly with no problems at all. Expedia sent a travel agent to help us with any tours or travel questions. We liked the Tiami Catamaren snorkeling and swim with the turtles trip, Harbour Lights beach party and the caves in central Barbados with a drive to Batsheba(a most see view of the Atlantic Ocean coast). The Mount Gay tour was a bit disappointing but the food and drinks were great. It seems that where ever you go alcohol is included in the price of entrance. Beware the drinks are very very weak. Better to opt for the bottles beer is your looking for effect. The Bajan people are very friendly and if you don't want the attention just say no thanks have a good day and keep walking. Fantastic place!!!

Traveler's tip:

Don't miss Cools Castaway Bar. Best drinks in town and cheap. Go to Scottys local food great value, fresh and good. Bean n Bagel great food. Also a grocery store across from Scotty's(ask at frontdesk) all very close.

Don't eat there unless stale bread is your thing. Staff is unfriendly and unhelpful. Hospitality is not a priority. Rooms were clean but air conditioning unit was noisy. Fridge in room was noisy.

The location of the hotel is three minutes from the beach, which is public. Upon arrival to the beach, you are charged $3 for the beach chair, and additionally $6 for the umbrella. The room walls were pretty dirty. The towels were not changed throughout the 4 nights of the stay. The continental breakfast consisted of horribly sweet orange juice from concentrate, and uneatable bread to be covered by jam. Eggs and sausages on display were for the additional price. The attendants/receptionists were not helpful.

Traveler's tip:

The Harrison cave was closed in 01/11/08-01/15/08; the botanical gardens was not really advertised. The catamaran tour is overpriced, as everything else.

First of all the bathroom smelt really bad even after being "cleaned" several times. If you are looking to relax and have your breakfast delivered to your room forget about it, they do not deliver in the mornings. On top of 15% VAT and the 10% service charge they charge an additional $10 for delivery to your room. The kitchen was always closed, thank god there were other places to eat in the area. The front desk staff was not friendly at all. It was not worth the price.

Traveler's tip:

Stay somewhere else.

This is not a luxury hotel. The service is very friendly, the food surprisingly good. Great beach right across the street. Not as noisy as it is further down into the Gap. We had a great time.

Traveler's tip:

The food at the hotel, and at smaller restaurants along the street is amazingly good. No need to splurge, unless you want a romantic view.

Location was perfect! Beautiful place, especially for the price. Right across from Dover Beach, which is a fantastic beach. Time Out is in the heart of the action and within easy walking distance to everything that The Gap has to offer. I would definitly recommend Time Out to anyone and would stay there again and again and again.

Traveler's tip:

Perfect for anyone who in into nightlife and meeting lots of fun locals!

The hotel was very clean, an employee was always sweeping, mopping or leaf blowing. A few of the front desk staff could have been a little friendlier, as they are in the customer service biz. Pool was refreshing and also very clean. Continental breakfast wasn't too exciting, 3 varieties of cold cereal, juice, water, coffee and 2 pastries (muffins and biscuits).

Traveler's tip:

Many great restaraunts within walking distance. Most have vegetarian meals. I went to Cafe Jungle's Tree House, Luigi's, Pisces, and Cafe Del Sol.

Reading earlier reviews I was not expecting too much, but I was pleasantly surprised. The room was perfectly cleaned, the sheets and spread looked brand new and the staff were wonderful. The location is excellent also; a great bargain.

Front desk personnel did not give service with a smile. Rooms and linens smelled of mildew and breakfast lacked variety. Be responsible for setting up your own excursions. If you leave it up to "Time Out" you will miss the bus everytime. Nightly entertainment at the hotel was great!

Traveler's tip:

Good location close to beach, restaurants and night clubs
