The staff was helpful and kind. The room was spacious but had some unique difficulties. The master bedroom had no chest of drawers. The master bath had little water pressure in the shower. One of the two sinks in the master had little water pressure. The contintental breakfast was great. Food service on the island is slow and very expensive. Getting around the island was difficult and expensive.

Make sure you take time to snorkel and or dive. Fishing on the island is average or below average. You may want to bring your own snorkel gear as the hotel is often out of the complimentary equipment. Check out Coral Garden a short walk from the hotel.

Excellent, excellent, excellent! There is no better word to describe the customer service, cleaniliness and accomodations. Everything that would have been needed was thought of and provided. The cottage was very large and beautiful (balcony and terrace with a grill), full kitchen with every appliance/accessory. Just wonderful!

Take advantage of IGA (supermarket 5 min away by taxi)for lunch, breakfast food or snacks. Meals get a little pricey.

Familiar hotel, no life at night

The hotel is spectacular, but extremely expensive for the room we got. We had the luxury room but was extremely small, no view at all, just small window, can hear everything of the next door guest. The beach is wonderful. Does not have a bar or a place to have a coffee. Just a snack bar that served both lunch and breakfast and for the overall hotel quality this place was too simple. Probably will not come back.

Everything was new and nice but elevator had problems. Make sure it's fixed before booking. Hotel is one of the best i've been to. Plus showers on end units have poorly tub/shower set up. It leaks to bathroom floor.

Traveler's tip:

Coco Bistros. Very good.

Tranquil place with Great Service

We were at the Somerset on Grace Bay for our honeymoon in May 2007-Excellent service! We had a maid clean our room twice each day and change out our towels! We ate all of our breakfasts at the hotel bar by the pool but ate lunches and dinners all over the island to get a feel for all of the places. This hotel is great because it's not too big or too small. Looks like one of the most beautiful hotels when you walk along the beach!

Traveler's tip:

Try several of the restaurants on the island. Don't just eat at the one in your hotel. Prices on the island as a whole are a little bit more expensive than the U.S. Anacayona and Coyaba and Coco Bistro are the 3 nicest, most romantic restaurants!

This hotel is beautiful, we stayed in a luxury room beacause we were only there for 3 nights, but enjoyed it. When we return to Provo, we will stay longer and definitely stay in a suite. We were able to take a look at one of the suites, and boy was it impressive. Our room was kept clean and although it was a small room, it was beautiful and met our expectations. The only downfall was insufficient lighting which posed a problem for seeing, especiall at night.

Traveler's tip:

There are so many places to dine, the options are neverending, just get a copy of the dining guide and your dining problems are gone!! O Soleili and Parallel are great restaurants, just be prepared to spend a little money.

The Somerset is a beautiful hotel with tremendous rooms, views, staff, pools, beach, and location. Our room was a one bedroom suite and lacked for nothing. We had breathtaking view of the ocean, sunsets, and sunrises. All the staff was congenial and very helpful. The food in both restaurants was excellent. It was a tremendous experience.

If you would like to go somewhere where there is some peace and quiet and no commercialism then I recommend this place. We stayed in one of the English cottages. Definitely the best looking hotel on the block too. In fact, when we were on the beach someone asked me what the name of our hotel was. I am guessing he was impressed at the layout. The other places looked like apartment buildings to me. The Somerset really felt like I was at a summer "home". The cottage we stayed at was a three level two bedroom suite, very nicely laid out. We had a washer and dryer, two bathrooms, a kitchen stocked with everything needed, sans food of course. There is a restaurant that serves dinner. There is also a poolside bar that serves breakfast and lunch by the pool or at the beach. The contintental breakfast pretty much includes fruits and breads and juices. If you want something like eggs or french toast, as in something they actually have to cook for you then you have to pay for it. Overall I was completely satisfied with the hotel and would definitely love to go back someday.

Don't pack a lot of stuff. You have a kitchen and washer and dryer and a local supermarket with everything you need for the kids. Much easier to handle kids with less baggage.

My wife and I were at The Somerset for our honeymoon and we had an amazing stay. The room was an Estate Suite and could not have been more luxurious! From the spacious living room and dining room to the kitchen, it had all the benefits of home. We decided to go to the grocery store (The IGA) and stock up on supplies. Although groceries are about double what you pay for at home, you still save time and money over the course of the trip. Trust me, it's all expensive on the islands (milk is $7/gallon). Anyway, wonderful room, great pool, beautiful beach, friendly staff. Would definitely stay here again!!!

Beautiful condo-hotel on a beautiful beach

The positive: My wife and I stayed at the Somerset for our honeymoon recently and the hotel was absolutely wonderful. We stayed in one of the English cottages and the apartment was beautiful, with top-end stainless steel appliances, flat screen TVs in every room and very tasteful furnishings. The pool and beach facilities were very nice, with complementary snorkling gear, kayaks and Hobie Cats. The beach (Grace Bay) deserves it's ranking amongst the best in the world and we've never seen water so crystal clear. The food was excellent everywhere we went and the island seemed very safe; the locals were very friendly and helpful. The diving was also spectacular (would highly recommend Caicos Adventures -- the best dive boat I've ever been on.) The negative (or neutral): Everything is expensive, so plan to spend some money for food, beverages and entertainment. One great way to keep costs down is to go to the IGA supermarket on your first night and buy groceries for some of your lunches and dinners (use the gas grill.) No room service either, so if you get lazy and don't want to walk down to the restaurant (which is pricy but delicious), you're on your own. Also, the island is much more family oriented than we expected, so don't be surprised if you are sharing the beach with a large number of children.

The Somerset: Very Good

We spent 5 nights at the Somerset. Overall, everything was excellent and we would recommend it to anyone considering a visit to Grace Bay who is looking for a high quality experience. Staff are very friendly and helpful. The hotel itself is nice and quite well maintained. Rooms are spacious and well appointed, especially nice if you take a room with a kitchen. Breakfast is excellent and service always friendly. The resort has an intimate feel and the staff make every effort to please. We did not eat at the resort's restaurant which did look as we opted to explore the island's other offerings. Everything is expensive and overpriced on Providenciales so be prepared to pay more than you would like.

Traveler's tip:

Take advantage of the amazing waters for snorkeling, diving and ocean kayaking. The reef life is amazing. We used Big Blue and were very satisfied.
