Hotel staff was very helpful and went out of their way to help accommodate us. We enjoyed the quiet on the East side of the island and the lovely beach, convenient snorkeling and the view from our room.
Traveler's tip:
Snorkeling from the beach in front of the hotel was good. We also enjoyed a snorkeling trip arranged by the concierge which took us to the reef on the East side of the island, as well as the Stingray City trip. Smith Cove and Cemetary Beach are also great snorkeling spots.

The hotel was fine. Food is expensive so grocery store across the street is handy. Only negative is the rough waters; it's located at the windiest part of the island so swimming is not easy, and waters can be murky a lot for snorkeling.
Traveler's tip:
Food is very good though expensive at the hotel. Try the nearest restaurant, Portofino's - they will pick you up if you don't rent a car.

Hotel is on the quiet, east side of the island. Excellent for a scuba diving trip. Only downside is the high priced dining. Part of that is due to the not-so-great exchange rate between the U.S. dollar and the Cayman dollar. However, there is a small shopping center across the street which offers food at more modest prices. Overall, The Reef is a really good place to stay.

We stayed in the 1 bedroom suite/condo. It was clean and well kept. The staff was extremely friendly, and helpful. Terrific view, would like living room balcony to be more private, but the bedroom balcony is better. Pools were wonderful, and the snorkling was great. The food and drinks were a little pricy, but Foster;'s grocery helped out. It was the best famly vacation we have had.
Buy your snorkling gear at home. The US $ isn't worth much.

The staff at the Reef Resort were just great. They made sure that your stay was comfortable. If you had questions or trying to locate something they would assist you in finding or help make reservations to local attractions and restraunts. The staff kept the rooms and the area clean at all times. I would recommend the Reef Resort to my friends.

Hotel was beautiful and peaceful. The food was quite good. The employees all made you feel welcome and at home.
You are out in the "boondocks". You need to rent a car and be prepared to drive quite awhile to either go for dinner or some other entertainment.

I was impressed with the hotel's location and cleanliness of the hotel area, but my problem was the very..very.. extreamly...lack of transportation for guess like us who did not have transportation. We were stranded on that side of the Island for the entire trip.Nobody seems to care about our problem.Everything else was tolerable. The supermarket is conviently located.
Traveler's tip:
Make plans for transportation...rent a car?

Very quiet and remote end of the island. This is the place to go If you want peace and quiet and relaxation. Beautiful beach and good snorkelling. Castro's Hideaway is very expensive and not very good, although there is a store nearby where you can pick up everything you need to cook for yourself. Staff were excellent and friendly. Considering we were only there for 2 days before being evacuated due to Hurricane Dean, we're definitely going back.
Traveler's tip:
Hire a car. Use the Ocean Frontiers Dive shop and get you SCUBA license. Stock up on food and drink because everything is extremely expensive. Watch you don't bump into the Barracuda that lurks under the jetty off the beach.

We stayed a total of 4 nights due to Hurricane Dean but the times we had to enjoy were priceless. We had a 1 bedroom suite which comfortably housed my 4-person family. The restaurant was a little pricey but the food was very good. Nothing beat laying on the beach watching shooting stars at night. Unfortunately we had to cut our visit to the Caymans short due to Huricane Dean. Would love LOVE LOVE to visit again. Stingray City is a must and be sure to visit Rum Point. Very beautiful part of the island.
Definitely rent a car. Its so much easier and less expensive the cabbing it.

The Reef is an out standing resort. Very clean and well kept. Great snorkeling right on The Reef's beach. The staff was very helpful, they will even make dinner reservations, and help you get set up with the local attractions.
Traveler's tip:
We got breakfast and lunch food at the store across the street from the resort to save money because it gets pretty pricey to eat out every meal, and then we went out for dinner. Also, rent a car to save money on transportation, taxi's can be very expensive.

The Reef Resort was fabulous! There was plenty of room for the whole family with room to spare. The beach was beautiful with great snorkeling right in front of the resort! Don't miss the sunrise! It is worth the 6am wake up!!
Snorkeling on the beach is a great way to teach the kids, so when you head out on a boat snorkel the kids are comfortable with it.

If you like to relax away from the crowds this is the place for you. Beach was superb and right outside your door, it felt like you had it to yourself. Snorkelling on the reef was amazing. The staff were very accomodating and friendly. Food and drink prices at the bar and restaurant were slightly high ($5 for small Pellegrino) but the store over the road has all you need if you want to eat in. We can't speak highly enough of this resort. If your looking for party central try 7 mile beach, this place is made for relaxing!!!
Turn the cell phone off and relax!

The hotel was fantastic and the service was excellent. The hotel is constructing another building, but fortunately it wasn't noisey or unsightful. The beach is beautiful white sand raked daily by a kind islander, Poppy. There are 2 pools, the one with the rock was nicer. The other was long, good for laps, but the jacuzzi was very noisey. The room was quite spacious and had a great view. The lunch and dinner were good, but breakfast was a little bland. The grocery store across the street was a life saver and has an excellent bread that I cannot find at home and would love more of. The snorkeling in front of the hotel was fun. Swimming along the edges of the seagrass meadows includes hunts for the spiny lobster. The bar has lots of good lobster and mahi meals. The staff was friendly and helpful. We lost one of our luggage and they notified us of its return. When we left, there were some beach toys and fishing poles bought buy some fellow visitors floating around. If you forgot yours, don't buy, just ask the concierge and they'll let you use them.
Traveler's tip:
Contact the concierge and book a boat with Joey or Shane at Ocean Frontiers. It's not a far drive and they will take you to the best snorkeling, esp. the "wreak and reef". The most beautiful and exotic fish in the world live in this area of the reef, and it's only four feet deep.

Enjoyed our very relaxing vacation. The Reef had rooms that were right on the beach. The water and beaches were great. You were able to see the sunrise. The Reef is located on the East coast which is in the middle of no ware and so great for relaxing. The restaurant and bar was great. Entertainment was also great. Staff is very friendly. Enjoy, Enjoy and Enjoy
Traveler's tip:
Cost of food and drinks are high but worthwhile. There was a grocey store across the street for getting helpful items, as well as liguor store at the Reef. I would recommend that you rent a car if you want to travel around - taxis are available but costly.

Our suite was extremely clean and outfitted with any and everything we could possibly need. The location was beautiful, waking up to the ocean at the front door was a blissful experience.
Traveler's tip:
Rent a car from the airport. Transfer to and from hotel for 4 people is more expensive than renting a car for an entire week. Driving, although on the other side of the road, did not present any difficulty.

If you need a time away from phones, email, and people who constantly need you - this is the place to go. June can have a mix of weather but no one has access to you and you can simply read, sleep, munch, daydream, whatever you never seem to have time for. Of course the best place for this is under a palm tree on beautiful white sand with ocean waves calmly splashing on shore of Colliers Bay at The Reef Resort. Go for it!
A small grocery is across the road from The Reef and has all one needs to do breakfast, lunch and a few dinners in the condo. The restaurant at the The Reef is available as well as Portofino's just up the road. The Reef will take you to Portofino's if you don't rent a car. Prices are high all over the island - so cook in when you can and then enjoy at least one exorbitant meal.

Beautiful beachfront; extremely clean; courteous staff
Traveler's tip:
Great snorkeling--opportunity to swim with Southern Stingrays. Visit Botanical Park to see the critically endangered Blue Iguanas in natural habitat.

Great place to stay with family. We stayed in a 2 bedroom/2 bathroom condo. It was very spacious, very clean, and the beach was uncrowded. We had a nice well equipped, spacious kitchen. This is the idea place to stay if you want a nice relaxing vacation with family, friends, etc.

We loved the Reef. It you want peace and quiet and to be away from the crowds this is the place for you. Everyone there was very friendly and our room was very clean. The pool was nice and the snorkeling was great right there at the resort.
Traveler's tip:
Rent a car and explore the island. Don't miss Run Point - it's beautiful there. Things are expensive on the island. Make use of the grocery store across the street.

Our one bedroom suite was brand new, so everything was in pristine condition. The King sized bed was very comfortable, which is important to us. Hotel staff was very friendly and helpful, unlike resorts on other islands we have visited. The Reef is located on the East End, so it was quieter than the West End, which was our preference. However, if you are looking for entertainment, the Barefoot Man performs twice a week, in addition to another local entertainer who performs twice a week.
Traveler's tip:
You may want to purchase some food from the supermarket across the street as restaurants on the island are very expensive. We ate our lunches in our room and went out for dinner each evening. Snorkeling off the Reef's beach was the best of any Caribbean island. Lots of colorful fish, including a couple of resident barracudas! Also, get a car as you will want to explore other parts of the island. Just remember to drive on the left side of the road!

Our 2 bedroom suite was spacious and comfortable. The staff was very accommodating and went out of their way when my son was sick. Lots of great entertainment on site for the whole family -- snorkeling, pools, Barefoot Man, comedy/dj. Its great to have the serenity of the island's east end and not feel completely deserted.
Traveler's tip:
Rent a car from McCurley's...they pick you up and drop off at airport--you leave car at the resort. You definitely want a car to explore the island

Hotel was very clean, well maintained and as advertised. Nice sandy beach. FYI - It was windy the week we were there, but we still had a great time. Grocery store across the street was convenient.
Traveler's tip:
Rent a car (we did). The hotel is nice, but there are lots of other places to go see and snorkel, and they are miles away.
