Kitchen cabinets where worned out/scratched out. TV was too small with a tiny remote (no inputs/outputs). Bedroom's a/c did not work. Had to leave door open to get cool air from living room. We moved to another hotel in less than a week of stay.

Good value for the money

Overall, I was very satisfied. The rooms were clean and comfortable, the staff was very helpful and the hotel is nicely located: close to the beach, downtown and the main road. However the hotel is showing some signs of wear and tear. The elevators didn't always work, there are telltale signs of disrepair and the power went out for a while one night. It was nothing that couldn't be fixed with a little maintenance; perhaps the recession has forced the management to put off some repairs.

Traveler's tip:

Renting a car will likely be a waste. The island has a good public transportation system and the cabs are reasonable.

This was our 2nd trip to Aruba. Previously we stayed at La Cabana, which this was part of before. The rooms were very clean and great staff to help with services. Unfortunately, the entire week we were there, 1 of the 2 elevators were broken, so getting to our room was very inconvenient. Also, the elevator that was working was not air-conditioned, so we would literally melt before we got off the elevator. The push was on to purchase time-share everyday we went by the front desk...very annoying! Also, if one more person asked to have my daughter's hair braided, I was going to scream! The bonus of the resort was the location....across from Eagle Beach, which is our all-time favorite beach in Aruba.

Traveler's tip:

Book activities when you get there, including rental cars. We were charged almost double by booking in advance.Red Sail Sports activity center is wonderful. The staff is very friendly and willing to work out deals for you. They are located on the pier behind The Hyatt.Definitely book the sunset sail and the snorkel sail 9-1:15 time slot. They are not rushed at that time and they provide lite breakfast and full lunch and open bar for the entire sail.

Not impressed at all

We were under the impression that this hotel was all-inclusive only to find out when we arrived for a 1 week stay that this was not the case. The rooms smelled moist because of the humidity. And even with the room air conditioning it only resulted in a cold, moist room. The bathroom and kitchenette were outdated-unlike the photos on the website. The Blue Marlin Restaurant had mediocre service and the chicken parmesan was dry and disgusting. The internet service cost $3 for 30 minutes and the consierge wouldn't allow us to print our boarding passes for the flight going home. One of the reasons we chose this hotel was because of the pics and reviews on the website- what appeared to be quality ammenities. We were VERY disappointed and would NEVER go back. Just across the parking lot was a much nicer hotel- and although it wasn't all inclusive we would stay there instead. Though we weren't hotel guests the staff were very helpful (unfortunately the rules state that I can't state the name). They assisted us with finding reasonably priced meals and transportation (remember- we weren't prepared to have to purchase either). The hotel looked new with updated accomodations along with daily and nightly entertainment (not available at the Aruban Resort and Casino). We would not recommend this hotel at ALL.

I love staying here, this was my 4th stay. This visit I had an end room next the the stairs so I could here people using the stairs all evening. Was having problem with both TV's while staying there, but was not always in the room. It's just a short walk to the beach. Will be going back in March of 2010

Traveler's tip:

There are lots of neat places to eat close by. Really enjoyed Screaming Eagles

Upon arrival I observed the the room had not been occupied for some time. There was a moldy odor, and the floor was not clean. The hallways were littered with cigarette butts. I was not permitted to use the gym unless I paid $10/per. It seems that half the resort is still La Cabana, and the other half is the Aruban Resort and Casino. Having stayed here many times before, I was extremely disappointed.

The people were great and the service was great. Really enjoyed the big slide at the pool and the hospitality in general on the island.

Traveler's tip:

Usually you have a service charge on your bill at reataurants. This is the gratuity, so you have to check your bill so you don't overpay on the tip.

It will be nice when they remodel the rooms. It looks like they are starting to. They are starting to get a little run down.

Traveler's tip:

The food is excellent there. Not that expensive.

If you want a 5-star hotel, this is not the one. If you want a clear, reasonable priced hotel in a good location, this is perfect. You are very close to the beach, they have lounge chairs and huts for hotel guests, awesome pools, good parking, etc. We choose not to afford a top notch hotel due to much higher costs. Hence this works well for our family and budget. We love Aruba and can go there affordably usually. The rooms are clean but dated. We love the kitchen. You can buy food, cook it yourself and save a ton of money. We would consider returning to the Aruban. Be prepared to be asked about time shares 10 times.

Traveler's tip:

Go to one of three large grocery stores. Buy a week worth of breakfast foods and some lunch foods. Save a ton by eating in sometimes.
