The beachfront suite had plenty of room for our family of five. The views from the balconies were great. The beach is perfect for swimming, kayaking and snorkeling. The waves were small and the water clear. Access to the marina made it easy to rent a waverunner and to go parasailing.

Traveler's tip:

The only cooked food on site is what is available during the day at the pool. The town of Red Hook is nearby and has a few good restaurants. Taxis can get to be expensive but renting a car the first time and driving on the left side takes some adjusting. You can walk to Red Hook in the daytime but I recommend the taxi at night.

it is not a 5 star hotel lacking some maint. but the people there are the greatest and for the money you feel more at ease and at home there. The views of st john at night are awesome and you get a sweet view of the sunrise in the morningwonderful beach as well.

Do not drive unless you have to. British style is hard to get used to and you don't want to get in accident. Dollar rides into town are the best way to go so you get a designated driver every time you go some where.

The resort wasn't at all impressive. The first room assigned was smelly and an eye sore. The balcony door that led to the beach was stuck and broke when we attempt to open it. We were told that it could not be fixed until Saturday. It was repaired on the Monday. The staff at the resort offered us a different room in the same building but on a second level...what a difference. The rooms are showing their age and upkeep is what the owner makes of the condo. Be sure to purchase air freshner, cleaner, lysol wipes etc. you will need it. The staff at the Resort were very friendly and helpful with attractions and dining.

Traveler's tip:

Never rent a car from the Airport. We used Hertz and got a midsize car that I consider a small car....Toyota Corolla. It was a awful looking and smelly never resembled a rental I felt that we were islanders. So many scratches, dents, missing parts etc. I will never deal with Airport rentals. Also the airport taxes that you must pay are outrageous. Rent your car from the resort/hotel and if you plan to drive a lot.....make sure you rent a jeep the roads are bumpy, curvy and hilly.

This resort is located on the eastern side of the island near the ferry to St. John. Overall the grounds are well maintained and the room was clean. There is a lack of dining options at the resort itself, so travel into Red Hook (5 minutes) or further is necessary. However, there's a market and restaurants in Red Hook so it is easy to stock up the full kitchen. The beaches do not get large swell, so they are nice for snorkeling.

Traveler's tip:

Don't miss taking the ferry to St. John! The beaches in the National Park are amazing, and they are free with the exception of one which charges a couple bucks per adult.

Beautiful beach with unbeatable scenery. Room is nice with full kitchenette, microwave, stove, etc... Arrived on Sunday, no air conditioning and the cord on the television wouldnt reach the cable outlet so had to move the television. Air fixed on Monday but cable went out. Both fixed on Tuesday, the day I am getting married, but the water goes out while Im in the shower one hour before my wedding. The rest of the week everything worked. Its a decent place for the money but I will stay at a trusted name resort on further island hops. Also, no pool bar or restaraunt despite me inquiring about this prior to visit.

Traveler's tip:

Definitely rent a car. Cab fare will eat you and your young. The car ferry to St Johns is worth the trip and driving around the national park was one of the trip highlights.

We Love the Sapphire Beach Resort!

We spent 6 days at the Sapphire Beach Resort in a beachfront room on the ground level. We truly enjoyed our stay. We cannot wait to return. The beach is sooo beautiful and we truly enjoyed snorkelling at Sapphire Beach. We enjoyed the close proximity to the Red Hook ferry since it made it so easy to hop over to St. John for dinner (15 minute ferry ride). We enjoyed the staff because they were so helpful at the front desk. The cleaning staff left the room immaculate every day and were a joy to interact with. Anything we needed was happily given to us. Since the restaurants are closed right now, you should absolutely go to the "grill man" between buildings B and C to get the Mahi Mahi sandwiches with fresh potato salad and top it all off with one of his frozen drinks. Wonderful. Relaxing on our outdoor patio on the beach level was so beautiful. On our last night, which happened to be our 2nd Anniversary, we pulled up two lounge chairs on the beach, sipped champagne, and watched the lights of St. John in the distance.

Traveler's tip:

Craig and Sally's in Frenchtown, St. Thomas is a must. The food was outstanding and the menu changes nightly depending on what inspires the chef. It is a husband and wife owned restaurant where the wife inspires the cooking and the husband inspires the large wine selection. Also, Asolare in St. John was awesome. The view of Cruz Bay was unreal and the Asiatic inspired food was fantastic.

My family has bren going to Sapphire for over 12 years. The staff was very friendly and the housekeeping staff did an excellent job. However, it was obvious that there has been a change in management. The room's ceiling fan was dirty, the walls needed painting, the appliances rusted, the sliding doors needed to be replaced. Also, the amenities such as the resturants and bar, the Sunday party with a BAnd was very much missed. We are hoping new management will do a complete upgrade/renovation to bring back to life!
