Very welcoming and excellent service from the staff. Clean room and comfortable bed. The resort is located 15 mns away from airport and 30 mns from downtown Nassau (take bus 10) or cab. Access to the beach 3 minutes walk from the SandyPort resort. Pool on site. 3 restaurants and a convenient store/gas station close by. Would recommend for people who want to get away from town and noise.

Sandyport is a beautiful hotel complex, not far from the beach. The room was small but relatively clean. Being able to cook and have a refrigerator in your room is a plus. I would suggest that the sofa covers be cleaned. The stains on the couch was a turn off.

This hotel is close to the beach, has a great pool and the rooms are clean. Office staff was very friendly and the free internet in the office was a nice perk.

Traveler's tip:

The pool here is amazing!! It is large and sand based, there are also a couple water slides and a covered area to swim and be out of the sun.

My wife and I recently stayed here for a night while waiting to catch a flight to one of the Out Islands. I was hesitent after reading the reviews but decided to give it try. I was quite surprised. The staff was kind and the room was great. I'd stay here again. True the hotel is a little out of the way but personally, we'd prefer the quietness that this hotel offers over sharing a property with 200-1000 other guests.

Traveler's tip:

If you have an early morning flight, make your taxi arrangments the night before. The hotel is able to get a taxi to the property in about ten minutes though they do not arrive to work until 7:00 or 7:30.

This hotel is centered in a very good location. Upon entering the room I did a thorough check and the only thing that really bugged me was there was a ant problem and it looks as if the bathroom area had not been cleaned thoroughly. Especially aorund the toilet area. Me and my fiancee went out and bought cleaning products to double clean besides just spraying with just normal disinfectant as we usually would. We stayed in the standard room because we had to switch from Mexico to Nassau at the last minute due to the swine flu pandemic so maybe this is why we received this room because it was the last minute. Then I don't understand why cleaning services are only done on Wednesday and Saturday. When I called to get clean washcloths and towels on another day they sayed they didn't have any at the time and they would try to get some to me ASAP. Many other people actually lived on this property so maybe they do their own cleaning but I was not impressed by the cleaning services at all which kind of made me have a negative opinion about the resort in general. All of the hotel workers were very nice though and provided excellent customer service.

Traveler's tip:

Dining facilities near the resort were excellent

Got a great rate and found out why. Two beds and TV not even space enough for a chair or desk. My dorm room was bigger. Pool with slide...slide was never turned on, pool was in disrepair, missing tiles and needed resurfacing. Lounge chairs at pool were vinyl plastic type, most broken.

Traveler's tip:

Take the bus! Resort is remote far from Downtown Nassau and most amenities. Bus ride costs $1.25 per person one way.

If only the air conditioning worked...

We have had three overnight stays in the last two years. We found the front desk staff to be very attentive and there are good restaurants within walking distance. However, on two of the three visits the air conditioning simply stopped working in the middle of the night, making sleeping in this tropical climate very uncomfortable. If you want reliable air conditioning, stay elsewhere.

We were there for a Thursday night & Friday day in April 2009.....we saw 5-6 guests the whole time!! They told us that they didn't have the room we requested...then they gave us a "closet" for a room. There will be tumbleweed roll through the whole complex soon.....90% of the stores are vacant, the one restaurant that was opened was holding on by threads...Do not waist your time trying to save a couple of bucks...it's not worth it.

Traveler's tip:

They're all closed for business

I only stayed on my way to San Salvador but for the price I paid the taxi I might stay at a hotel that costs a little more just to be closer to restaurants and some other action. Ooverall I was able to get a walk in, something to eat at a nearby convenience store and get 12 hours of sleep.

THE ONLY REAL problem is there is no interner service in any of the rooms, other wise go for the upgrade request when you get there the better room is the way to go.

Were I to return to Nassau I would definitely return to Sandyport Beaches. However, I would suggest that at least coffee be available in the lobby in the mornings. Also there was no place to have breakfast in the immediate area. And, the ocean beach was not cleaned of debris the entire week we were there.

It was a good place to get away from noisy New York and to be away from crowded places. Services was good. However, some room are too small for even one night stay, there were no tables chairs, etc. We were lucky that they changed our room for bigger one. Probably we will return there.

Quiet, yes, there was NO ONE there! A very run-down property. Many basic maintenance issues in our room... missing towel bar; stained and torn curtains; freezer didn't work in room fridge; dirty walls; soap and bath towels not always replaced when room was cleaned; lack of beach towel availability; even found burrs (scratchy things) in our clean towels 4 times; tub drain broken; hole is shower wall; lumpy and very worn out furniture (couch had trim falling off); dirty floors; no restaurant at "Old Towne Mall", in fact, nothing at the mall except the gym; couldn't even get a cup of coffee without taking a bus; the "market" is a gas station/convenience store not well stocked by U.S. standards. So I would not recommend this place... worth spending a little more to be at a better facility!!!

Pick a different hotel!

Me and my girlfriend stayed at the sandyport Beaches Resort to celebrate our anniversary, at first it was very comfortable, the room was well cleaned, we chilled a little and then decide to go for a walked. When we returned to the room, as we opened the door my girlfriend started screaming, i asked what happened, she said look!! i said what? she showed me two big roaches in the room, unlucky for us she terrified of roaches, i killed them, she called the front desk, the gentlemen behaved as if she was telling a lie, he told her to bring them to the desk as witness to show to the manager, we decided not to, i had already threw them out side somewhere, i manage to calm her down, as we relaxed a little, she called out to me in very loud and terrified voice,, there's two more!! i killed them, i got a piece of napkin and we took them to him at the front desk, he give us another room, at that point i realized my night my anniversary was ruined. as we returned to the room to get our luggage from the first room, there was another two roach on the floor and one on the bed, i killed them, before we left my girl told me to check our bags and stuff, doing so there was a roaches crawling into my suitcase. that right there ruined everything, too many roaches.

The erea is very comforting place to bring out your families, but i would say to watch out for different bugs specially something you or you children maybe allergic to.
