We loved this resort. There are activities from 9:00 am until 10:30 pm. Anyone looking for an All Inclusive resort read as many reviews as possible to avoid unwanted surprises.

Disapointing, older hotel, the review photos were not indicative of the actual resort. Staff was uninterested. The buffets were boring and low quality. The servers could not answer questions about the food. The guacamole wasn't even fresh!! Repairs and painting were being done during peak times of the day, the evening programs had music that went on long and loud. Beaches were great and access to beach easy, I will spend a little more and upgrade to another inclusive hotel next time.

Overall, I rate the Decameron a 3. The rooms are extremely clean, possibly due to tipping the maid 50-100 pesos everyday, which was well worth the money as she he did an outstanding job. The food was not gourmet, but adequate for anyone, as the wide array of food choices makes it nearly impossible for anyone to walk away hungry. The booze definitely was bottom shelf. The tequila was so bad, we only had one margarita. The beer was cold and refreshing. For a Mexican Resort, one would expect to hear people speaking Spanish, but while we were there we heard much more French than English or Spanish, probably due to the fact that the Decameron is Canadian owned. If rude, arrogant behavior by some of the guests is annoying to you, go somewhere else. The walk into Bucerias is about one mile along a sandy beach. They have an extensive "market" and the prices are reasonable provided you barter, barter, barter. The walk into Nuevo Vallarta is 4.5 miles; we did it only once. We wanted to use the bikes to ride around and discover Bucerias, but they only allow you to check them out for one hour, about the time it took to ride into the Bucerias market and do a little shopping.

This was my fifth time back to this resort. The employees are great, the food is good. If you need to just relax and get away this is the resort for you. I have never tried any of the extra activities (fishing, zipline, etc). If you plan to do a lot in Puerto Vallarta this resort is off the beaten path and a taxi round trip too often would get spendy.

The RDC met all of our expectations. Good value for the cost. Great location on a beautiful beach. Ala carte restaurants were our choice most evenings. We prefered the Italian food restaurant although it is quite noisy and difficult to carry on a conversation. The number of bars was adequate to meet the needs of the entire complex and bartenders were very professional. The entertainment was of a lower quality than we expected. MC seemed to provide an air of self-importance. Beach lounges need to be replaced as there are many broken chairs. Our room was adjacent to a stairwell and was quite noisy through 3AM as the disco ran into the wee hours and there is a lack of signage to keep quiet after 10:00 PM.

DIDNT HAVE VERY GOOD FOOD AT BUFFETS. HAD DIFFERENT THEME NIGHTS BUT THE FOOD WAS THE SAME AS NIGHT BEFORE EXCEPT A COULPE OF ITEMS

BEACH WAS WONDERFUL BUT AGAIN LOTS OF VENDERS BROTHING YOU

This was our first experience at an inclusive resort and we stayed 12 days, enjoying all of the beauty, food and drinks provided. Service is tops. Extras like speciality restaurants with no extra expense was wonderful! We did not enjoy standing in line to make reservations for those restaurants, no one wants to wait in line for limited access to other options for food. Overall, highly recommend as it is in a great location, has a good feel of Mexico, diverse travelers and excellent service.

We've been to the Royal Decameron several times, our latest in Oct. 2009. the rooms are a little on the basic side, but quite big and they do have hair dryers, A/C, and tv's with a pretty good channel selection. Also a private balcony or patio with every room. We never went hungry for sure, but found the buffet food just a little big lacking in the Americaan food selections this time. Would liked to have seen at least a few familiar dishes as part of their everyday buffet fare. Some breakfast juices, the salad dressings and particularly the breakfast maple syrup were watered down. None of these "negatives" are serious enough to keep us from going back however. There's always a lot of good food alternatives to be had and also their specialty (and always free) restaurants besides the buffet. The grounds, all the pools and the private beach area are still very well maintained and clean. With very rare exception the staff is still quite pleasant and attentive, with plenty of them around when you need them. The evening entertainment is still quite fun and there's daily activities too. Of course certain seasons are a little less expensive than others, but it's always a great bargain anytime! Beware though -- rooms are pre-assigned when they're booked and requests made at the time of booking (in our case for a specific medical need for a room on the bottom floor or their section with elevator) are never noted at the hotel and we've had more than one hassle getting that need met.

While we could have booked our transportation to and from the airport to the Royal Decameron along with our air / hotel reservation, we found it MUCH less expensive by going directly to the specific large taxi kiosk just before you exit the building after claiming your baggage at the airport. (NOTE: NOT the men/ladies lined up as you're leave the baggage area who claim to be taxis.) The rules specify that we can't post specific prices, understandably because they change all the time. But I can definitely say that every trip we've saved between $150 and $250 total for a round trip by using the kiosk's taxi (van) that holds up to 8 people.

This hotel is beautiful. It is perfect for our family. It is not a Dreams or Sandals with all the ritz. It is homey and very tasteful. The people are wonderful. The beach is great. I have heard it is one of the best ones for access in the PV area. The food is good. Rotillo grill is really good for the meat eater. Make sure to find Angels bar. He is the best bartender ever! We will be back in 2010

Pirate ship show is great We did the day time one

The only complaint was with one of the front desk staff member. I went with a group and they didn't place me next to them so I was put on the opposite side of the hotel. When I asked to be switched she was rude and acted like I was putting her out. That first night was awful since the room I was in the A/C was broken. The next morning I went to the front desk and helped by another person who was so nice. He changed my room next to my group (the a/c worked in this one) and was extremely helpful. Other than that complaint my vacation was awesome, the hotel staff was very friendly and catered to me and my group. They all went out of their way to make sure we had fun.

The grounds of the hotel were well maintained and quite beautiful. The rooms were very basic but fine. I loved the amenities. My partner and I enjoyed kayaking over the warm ocean water and appreciated the tennis courts. My only real complaint would have to be that the food was too salty for my taste.

I loved this resort it was absolutly Beautiful. Rene the bar tender at the adult pool was awesome excellent service. we loved every min and got very toasted!!!! BRING INSULATED CUP!!!

NICE.. we went to nuevo vallarta for a week, and we had a wonderfull time. everything was so great.the place, the stuff all the things you can do ...it was our second honeymoon.we just loved it...it was more than i expected and the price was great. we will go back, and just can't wait

An excelent option for the price, lots of green areas, good food, nice shows. I'd definitely go back.

For a three star it is OK. If you know how to sail, they havea mandatory skipper, that take all the fun out of it.
