What to expect: Both couples and families come here for casual beach vacations, with lots of children present during summer months and school holidays. Adults predominate during the winter, spring, and autumn. Amenity highlights: Two freeform pools provide year-round pleasure. One pool is for activities and includes a swim-up bar behind a rock-garden waterfall and a plunge pool and lounge chairs atop the rock garden. In a separate courtyard, a "quiet pool" includes a children's section, while an adjacent, mountain-pool-style spa tub in a rock garden accommodates eight people. Pueblo Bonito Maz...

January in Mazatlan was wonderful. The weather was WONDERFUL . The only bad thing was I was there for only a week. Already have planned to go back in Feb. The Staff were friendly, the place very clean and the view from my room was outstanding.

We have always welcomed the name Pueblo Bonito on any of their resorts, for we know that it soundly stands for excellence!. The friendliness and helpness of the staff is superior to other resorts we have stayed at in MX, Carribean, and other destinations around the world. Hygiene and cleaniness was suberb, especially in today's world of diseases and germs.

Great hotel in a great location. Scenic and accomodating. Despite being a slightly older hotel, excellently maintained, well organized. Great layout and views. Great little resort. Good bars and decent food and prices. Nice pools and beach. What really puts it over the top is probably the service. Great people and increedibly attentive. Would not mind going back at all.

The Mazatlan Pueblo Bonito facility was the first Pueblo Bonito built. Now there are several to choose. We register as hotel guests not as timeshare owners. Pueblo Bonito Mazatlan is a very clean and friendly facility. The main reason we have returned to this facility so many times are the employees. They make us feel like family. We do have fun shopping in the Mazatlan area old town and the Golden Zone but most of all shopping from the beach vendors is great.
Shopping from the beach vendors is a FUN experience. They expect you to offer a lower price than they provide. All vendors pay a fee to get a beach vendors license.

Mazatlan is a great destination. My 4th Mexican destination and one of my favorites. The beach front at this hotel was probably the best in the entire city. It was clean, not deep, no creepy crawlies or anything. The water was warm and waves would very from small to large. It was soo easy to walk from the pool area down to the ocean area. The hotel was great, food was excellent. Pool staff awesome. I went with my husband for our anniversary and would totally come back with friends and family. We did several excursions including: Stone Island, City tour, Dune Buggies and Zip lines. Highly recommend all of those excursions. I must say the city tour was one of my favorites though. The lobby area at the hotel has a couple of women who are very helpful. The location of the hotel is awesome because you can walk to a bunch of restaurants, bars, stores etc. I also recommend going through the time share at the Pueblo Emerald Bay you get a $200 food credit and we got the city tour. Totally worth it. The area around our hotel felt very safe. LOVED IT!!!! Highly recommend.

It was amazing. I didn't want to leave. The hotel workers were excellent. This was the best looking hotel on the block and there were plenty of other big name hotels on the same block and location.
Traveler's tip:
Go to Walmart and get everything you need as far as groceries and extras. Save the US dollars for the vendors on the beach, they give great deals when using American dollars. Watch movies in the day and swim in the evening!

The hotel is close to everything and the staff are friendly and helpful. It's not the newest or nicest hotel, but I would recommend it to others. I've sayed at other hotels in Mexico that are nicer than this one for the same price so be sure to ask/look for a discount when you book it.

This resort was nice and the staff was very friendly, helpful and quick. The only huge downside was time-share people and pressure. It is unpleasant to go on a vacation and be pressured. Worse, if you give in and miss a day of vacation, when not interested in the first place. However, I like to think of the time-share thing as separate from the resort experience, which was very pleasant.

Deep sea fishing with Neto's Fleet! What an awesome experience and we caught several big Dorados.

Loved the resort - both pools were perfect temperature, wait staff were amazing everywhere, food in Cilantro's restaurant at the hotel was spectacularly good and beautifully presented. Very romantic, lovely grounds. Restaurant a few blocks south - 'The Place' was our favorite outside the restaurant. Once we made it clear we didn't want the time share promotion we were not bothered after that.
Traveler's tip:
Massage business on the main street a few blocks down -- International Massage, under Zarape's restaurant -- was terrific. Rossy and Patty have been in the business 15 years and were delightful - $30 for more than an hour. Highly recommended.

I enjoyed the stay and so did my kids. Like the fact they had two pools one more kid friendly. The staff was very pleasant and accomodating. Restaurant buffet was expensive just because kids don't eat very much and for the price not worth eating there. Convenient deli in hotel.

while the staff was wonderful and the hotel grounds lovely, you need to be up at 7am to get a chair on the beach! When I go to an oceanfront property, I want to spend time on the beach, and chairs were in short supply on my last trip. We visited Pueblo Bonito Emerald Bay (sister property) and it was gorgeous, and had a much larger beachfront with plenty of chairs. Beach lovers, go to Emerald Bay.

We took a private tour of Mazatlan with Mazatlan Rover-Tours (Jesus Benitez) and it was wonderful.

There were 15 of us that stayed at Pueblo Bonito. We had 9 kids (ages 4 - 9) and 6 adults between 3 suites. The staff is great with the kids and we felt safe enough to have the older kids be on their own somewhat while we were all around the pool. The pool area is great. We never had a problem with lounge chairs. We could get out there at 8 a.m. or after and still find plenty of good places to put all of us right next to the pool. The beach is very nice also. We couldn't get the kids off their boogie boards. Make sure you bargain with the guy renting the boogie boards. We rented two for our kids for $15 american dollars for the week. Food in restaurants a little pricey but good. We ate at other restaurants in Mazatlan area most of the time.
Traveler's tip:
Definately take advantage of the timeshare tour at Pueblo Bonito Emerald Bay. After you're done you can hang out by their "huge" pool all day. Plus you get $200 towards your bill back at PB Mazatlan. It could pay for most of your room charges. Tell them from the beginning you aren't interested in buying & they won't push at the end. They'll just go through the pricing. HINT: take your kids. It'll get you on your way quicker and they'll definately talk less at the end!

This was my 2nd time staying at a "Pueblo Bonito" hotel...if you've stayed at one, you've stayed at them all, which is good if you like their style, bad if you don't. I am not a fan at all. I don't care for the hard stone everywhere. The only rug is the bathtub mat. The service was shotty; we had to ask for refills/additional basic amenities even though it was clear the shampoo and conditioner was out. We even generously tipped the maid every day in her "tip pouch" she has in the room thinking this would help. It didn't. Tips seem to be a "given" now and there's no incentive to do the standard job let alone go above and beyond.
Traveler's tip:
Mazatlan seems to be a cheaper place than Puerto Vallarta and Cabo. Restaurants really seem to be reasonably priced. Our favorite was Chili's and Pepper's. It's a family-friendly atmosphere, right on the beach, they play fun music and the prices were very reasonable. Try the lobster and shrimp for two! What a deal $440 pesos, about $33 US. Two whole lobster mexican style and shrimp prepared several ways served on top of a heating stone that has charcoal on the inside to keep it hot!

We loved this hotel. It was close to a lot of restaurants and shops...within walking distance. The staff is so pleasant and very eager to help to make your stay the best. It's a friendly atmosphere at the pools.....very laid back and quiet. No blasting loud music at all. The hotel has a very nice Mexican flavor to it. It is well kept and very lovely too. My problem was that they had a feather bed on the mattress which I didn't discover until the day before we left. I'm allergic to down and I did have sinus problems while there. You may want to remove yours if you have allergies to dust, feathers or down. The cleaning girls are so sweet, so PLEASE plan to leave them a few dollars on your pillow everyday or hand it to them with a smile. They work very long hours and are quite poor. If you don't want to crowd your luggage or pay more at the airport because your luggage is too heavy, leave it for them. They are more than happy to have whatever you want to leave. Our girl didn't speak English but knew what I meant when I handed some things to her in a bag....cereal bars, soda pop, popcorn, a visor, sandals, socks etc. She handed me paper from the desk and motioned to me to write that I was giving these things to her. (She had that as proof if questioned.) We will go back again! Loved it! You will too!
Traveler's tip:
The water is very safe to drink in the hotel and restaurants near the hotel also. Go to "Fat Fish" for ribs...yOu won't believe the size of the rack! You'll have leftovers for the next day! Enjoy.....not fancy but good food.

We stayed at the Pueblo Bonito Hotel in Mazatlan for two weeks. Our first room was in the old section of the hotel with hardly a view of the ocean. We asked for a better room and were told they only had a junior suite so we moved to that for 5 days and finally got a room in the new section and the luxury suite we had paid for. I guess the timeshare people go in and out Sun. Mon. and Tues. and we had checked in on a Weds. I would highly recommend asking for a room in the new section. Other then that the hotel was ok.

The hotel is nice and well maintained. The staff is friendly. Food at the restaurants is good. Entertainment/activities planned by the staff are poor. Service at the pool and the pool bar is extremely slow and the drinks are watered down during happy hour. BUT...my main complaint about the hotel is that they gave another guest (a stranger to me) my room number, my first name, the fact that I was traveling alone, when I was checking out, and where I was flying to. I became aware of this on my last night and the following morning. Even though this other traveler told me she got this information from the front desk, they denied it. Upon returning to the U.S. I contacted the hotel management to inform them of the potential danger (not to mention violation of privacy) this situation created. The response I received show little concern for the gravity of the situation, and an offer to suspend the employee who gave out my information if I could identify them. I recommend finding a hotel that has more respect for their clients' privacy. (There's also a very agressive timeshare staff that they direct you to right after you check in. One woman got quite hostile when I declined; she didn't want to take no for an answer.)

The cathedral downtown is worth seeing. There is a tequila tour to Los Osuna. The guides were excellent, the tour interesting, the price was right, and the tequila of very good quality.

Overall we were happy with the hotel, although we had three complaints; the sheets were worn out and rough to the touch, and the rooms are a little dated. Also, the noise from the street was loud at night. The location of the hotel was great and the pool and beach area was beautiful. I would stay here again for sure, I would just ask for a room away from the street.
Traveler's tip:
Have dinner at Pancho's. It's right on the beach and the view is beautiful. The food was fantastic and so was the service.
