What to expect: Owned and operated by husband-wife team Danny and Judy Lowe since 1981, Orange Hill Beach Inn occupies a former orange orchard and is still shaded by tropical fruit trees. A casual, hospitable ambience is the inn's hallmark. Many guests settle in for long stays, but the inn is also popular for travelers who overnight here before leaving for out-island destinations. Amenity highlights: The inn is on a hill overlooking a beach 100 feet away. Guests may borrow snorkeling gear to explore a close-in coral reef. The inn also has a good-sized pool in a garden courtyard. A surrounding ...

I truly enjoyed The Orange Hill Inn. It is a nice lil' diving and couples inn. This is not a wild-party animal Inn...rather, It is a nice, clean, older place for Scuba divers, mature couples, newlyweds, mature singles, families (with well behaved children). The location is lovely as it is situated on top of a hill overlooking the ocean. I recommend asking for rooms: #u1, u2, u3 or u4...as they give you the ocean view. All the staff was great! An added plus: the #10 bus pickes and drops folks off right in front of the Orange Hill Inn, the fare is one dollar to downtown's Bay st., Nassau. In addition: Stuart Cove's Diving shop will pick and drop off: "Bubble Blowers" at the Inn. You cannot go wrong by booking at the Orange Hill Inn.
Traveler's tip:
I recommend Stuart Coves for divers and snorklers, I also recommend the Blackbeard's Stingray adventure and Robinson Crusoe snorkling adventure...And of course, Do ride the #10 to check out Bay st., But only in the day. CAUTION: PLEASE, PLEASE do use common sense and do not venture out at night or go into rough parts of town unless you Truly now what you are doing!

The hotel staff was very accommodating and provided us a room at noon even though most places allowed you to check in in the afternoon. They also let us choose which available room we preferred (showed us two options). One of the owners gave us a lift to downtown and gave us a quick tour of the things we can do along the way (cable beach, downtown shopping/eating, Paradise Island, etc). Our overall stay was pleasant. Orange Hill also serves breakfast, lunch, dinner which is very convenient if you don't want to deal with the downtown touristy places.

Friendly and relaxed staff. The A/C filters had recently been cleaned, but the A/C was not strong enough to properly cool the room, but not too bad for us cold-blooded types. The kitchenette had a few rag-tag pieces of flatware, not enough for two people, and rag-tag dishes and such as well. The toilet handle and sink handle were loose and the toilet handle would not flush/drain properly unless held down for a while. Had a little ant invasion in the shower also. Strangely two of the 4 pillows were in the closet. The safe had no lock, just an empty hole where a lock cylinder should be. Daily maid service has a key to the room, but did not disturb the valuables or cash in the room. Great little low-key place. Out of the way, which is nice, but taxis can add up. A gypsy cab costs $20-$22 to go into town and the same to get back. In the off-season (such as September) the #10 jitney bus did NOT come every 15 minutes, but rather every 40 minutes to 1 hour, so you'll be waiting in the sun. Don't forget your sunscreen. The wait isn't so bad though, being right by the little ocean beach. All depends what you expect out of a place. I loved it and would go again.

The hotel had a homey feel to it but I was concerned that my balcony door did not lock. I am a female and I was traveling alone - this was not good. I didn't know about the courtesy daily trips to the supermarket until I was about to leave. No one told me anything I had to keep asking about their procedures and other things. Of course, when I asked a question the person on duty would answer but there was no additional information given to me while I was there.

My boyfriend and I stayed here for our week-long trip, and we had a WONDERFUL time. This was my 2nd stay at Orange Hill. It's away from the main hotels on Cable Beach, which is both good and bad. You esentially have a private beach, and the pool and dining room is never crowded, and it's a wondefully relaxing environment. The only "problem" is the distance to things to do. During the day, it's not really an issue, as the bus stops right at the bottom of the hill and is only $1 per person to ride. After 6, however, you have to take a cab ($15 to Cable Beach, more for downtown). The staff is VERY nice and friendly, and they were always willing to help us out whenever we needed anything. Breakfast and lunch (we never ate dinner) is very inexpensive. If you're the type of person that is looking for lots of frills in your hotel, this isn't going to be the place for you. But, if you just want a nice, relaxing place to stay, and a beautiful uncrowded beach, Orange Hill is perfect. Like I said, this was my 2nd stay at the hotel, and if we return to Nassau, we'll definitely stay here again.
Traveler's tip:
Snorkeling w/ Stuart Cove is fun & you save $10 booking BEFORE you arrive in Nassau, so definitely book through Expedia. The best thing we did was an all day trip to the Exuma islands through Powerboat Adventures. They don't honor Expedia vouchers, so book through their website. Well worth the cost!!

Very laid back place, but top notch service. Excellent location to scuba diving and gorgeous beach directly across street. Wonderful louge/gathering place to meet other visitors and discuss day's adventures. Lots of divers frequent here. Town is a short bus ride away. This is not the place for you if you're looking for entertainment and nightlift. But excellent place to unwind and relax with "no worries mon".
Traveler's tip:
Stuart Cove's Dive Bahamas, Awawak Cay, Fort Charlotte, Mango's all within short bus ride. Bus 10 runs past every 10-15 minutes and ride are cheap.

The location is great and not far from action. If you want food go to the store and buy mico food as they don't serve on Wednesday. Their food is below average (open a box and micor it) and cost is outragous. The people were very friendly and helpful. The Snorkling was great and the area not crowded. We would go back!
Traveler's tip:
Buy some snack food for your room and plastic's to serve it that can stay in your room.

Kids loved the pool. Nice landscaping. People are very nice and ready to help right away. They will go beyond and will feel like a family. Pet lovers will see cats and dogs like at home. Kitchen, bar and play room are next to each other. So everyone in the family can do their own thing and have fun. Beach across the road, but not clean. Overall good for budget travelers.
Traveler's tip:
Bus will pick you up right outside the hotel. Downtown about half hour from hotel. Most of the activities around the downtown area. No need to rent a car. People are very friendly and will direct you.

If you want to experience the Bahamas, Orange Hill Inn is the place to go! The hotel was not fancy, but was comfortable and had a fantastic location with a reef right out front. Staff was very friendly and accomodating. Travel around the island was easy with the #10 bus ($1 per person) passing right in front of the hotel constantly throughout the day. If you want a Las Vegas type vacation don't stay here, but if you want a real feel for the Bahamas this is the perfect place! Orange Hill Inn has new bungaloes which are absolutely gorgeous and immaculate but not advertised on line. Definitely ask about those. That is where we sill stay next time. We traveled with 3 kids, had 2 rooms poolside and loved it. Excellent food! Inexpensive. Everyone I met on snorkel trips, in the airport or on the plane stayed at a popular hotel on Paradise Island and everyone of them said they would not go back! There biggest complaint was the absurd food prices in that area. I highly reccomend this hotel to those adventurers who want to experience the Bahamas and do not need someone to entertain them constantly. We had the entire beach to ourselves all week. The trees and flowers were gorgeous and in a natural setting.
Take the #10 bus to Nassau, or just up the road to Cable Beach. There is a Pizza Hut there when your kids need a little taste of home, also a grocery store for snacks and sodas, etc. For teens and 'tweens the Stuart Cove snorkel with sharks is great! We went back the next day! Orange Hill's cook special made Rice Krispy treats for our kids one night! They were fantastic there. You really will not need to eat anywhere else!

We enjoyed our stay at Orange Hill. The staff were helpful and pleasant. There is a nice beach across the street where I saw a very large ray as well as a decent amount of colorful fish while snorkeling.
