We got fabulous deal on Expedia for our stay at the Melia. It almost seemed too good to be true! With that said, we had set the bar pretty low for the Melia - not expecting much because we didn't pay much. What a lovely surprise! The Melia was beautiful, clean, and friendly. The food was very good. I didn't expect that the non-buffet restaurants would be included in the All Inclusive pricing. Again, a very nice surprise to realize that we did not have to pay extra. We would definitely vacation at Melia again - next time with the kids!

Traveling was not good. Our bags were left in our connecting city twice. Connecting times, though long enough, were shortened by extreme delays, so we missed our flight on the way home. The actual resort was wonderful. The food was so-so, so always make reservations in the restaurant downstairs -it's included, it's nice and there aren't as many children. Drinks were strong. Service was perfect! The travel and activity agents were a little pushy, but it comes with the territory i.e. we've got money to spend. But everyone at the hotel, within the resort were good, caring people and were always happy to help. It was a good experience, and I can't wait to go back.

We actually were there to attend a wedding at a different resort, and were very pleased that we decided to stay at the Melía rather than the other resort. The rooms are basic (nothing plush) but very clean and comfortable. The food was great and even though we do not drink alcohol, our friends that do were satisfied with the quality (and quantity!) The service was excellent and the activities were fun. Would defintely stay there again.

The place was more than worth the money. It was superior to what we expected. Location is convenient as righ outside the hotel you can take a public bus to go to downtown (30 mins way). Customer service was superb. December was the perfect time of the year to go as weather could not have been better: not too hot, not too cold. The celebration on New Year's Eve was fantastic! The buffet variety is the best I've seen ever and the quality was good too.

My friend and myself just returned from a wonderful stay @ the Melia. We had both been to Mexico several times previously but this was the best, by far. The hotel is beautiful and superbly maintained. The pool is huge and a place you can spend all day. Service @ the pool, be it the towel person or cocktail server, was superb. The food was very good and the drinks were quite generous! My friend and I like to tip for good service. It seems some people feel since it's all-inclusive there's no need to tip. And, to the staff''s credit, I saw non tippers getting good service. But they miss out on the genuine gratitude received from these gracious service people. Just a small tip means so much. The great service and overall ambience puts all guests in a good mood. We met families who were so nice they practically adopted us! The only complaint was poor ac in the room. However, they did attend to the problem.

Looked for a nice family vacation to relax at pool, nice food, drinks, swim and relax. Got all of this. CheckIn in 5 min. Concierge took care of us, introduced us to hotel, gave us map, restaurant schedule and kids program (every day 9-6 pm +Thu/Sat -9pm), invited us to hotel club presentation which we declined and sent us off. Already waiting for us, a crib and a rollaway bed, requested with expedia booking. The bathroom was a spacious full bath, lots of space, nice ambiente. Small balcony with a great view. Room was a bit musty, but not too bad. Snack bar was bad, but all other restaurants good. We enjoyed a rich Breakfast Buffet at Quetzals (7-11.30 am) and Lunch Buffet at La Palapa (1-5pm), Dinner Buffet at Quetzals (7-11 pm) very attentive, friendly service plus good Cocktails at Lobby bar (5pm-1am) and Pool bar (11am-5pm). Specialty restaurant: Azulejos/Mexican (service: 7-10pm, opened at 6) food/service ok. Vitrales/Italian very good. All restaurants very clean, fast service, fresh food. Kids program under 4 years - nice, very clean kept air-contioned, foam-padded room with lots of baby and toddler toys, easels, TV, cribs, play kitchen, jumperoo. 2 babysitter Our 3 year old loved it. Our 1 year old was ok, loved MiniDisco at 9 pm better. We all had a good time, would recommend it to friends. Time scheduled mentioned above might change seasonally. We travelled to Melia 1 week in Dec 2009.

This was our 2nd trip to the Melia, Puerto Vallarta---------that alone tells you it's a great place to stay! Room was great and had great view---alittle confusion at check-in but staff took care of business! Food and service in resturants was outstanding! The staff cannot do enough to please you! Maid service very good and kept refrig stocked! Drinks were very good and bartenders there to please! We enjoy being close to the marina and this hotel meet our needs! Again we enjoyed our stay at the Melia and will return!

This was our fourth stay at the Melia. The food was good, the beverages were cold and the people were friendly. For the all inclusive kind of trip, you should not be disappointed.

We played a couple rounds of golf at Marina Vallarta golf course. It's about a ten minute walk to the course.

Beds were hard as rocks, bees were flying everywhere around the pool bar including in the beverages, hardly anyone spoke English. Do a little more research and pick a different place. There were children everywhere, no privacy.

The Melia Puerto Vallarta was a wonderful place. My husband and I stayed 7 nights. Very clean facility. Friendly staff, a lot spoke English well. Rooms were very nice and Felix was a great maid. The food was very good. We never did the Italian or Mexican reservation only restaurants, but the daily buffet was wonderful at all three meals. The daily "snack" bar near the pool was also quite good. Plenty of food selection. There were kids there, but many activities to keep them busy and they never seemed to bother us. We did Deluxe Ocean View. We were 5 stories high and the room overlooked the garden area first, then the ocean. But the ocean view was still quite good. The only rooms at Melia that are a full "ocean view" are M-Experience. But there isn't a lot of activity on the beach itself, so it wasn't a big deal for us. Taxi's for transportation are great. From airport to Melia is most expensive. After that, expect to spend 50-100 pesos to go anywhere and they are always available at the resort. Finally, watch out for Time Share people. Do NOT let them ruin your first day. They are in the airport trying to sign you up at other resorts. And they are in the lobby of the Melia. Expect to spend 3 hours if you let them. If you are strong willed and can tell them no, they can at least hook you up with some great rates on activities away from the resort. Although it may be worth just paying more than listening to them!

Traveler's tip:

Canopy River Zip Lines were great. Aquadventures Royal Swim with Dolphins and SeaLions is also a great experience. We also did an all day boat trip... there are a few different ones and they include snorkling, lunch, and a trip to a waterfall. Very nice experience but I would recommend trying one besides "Beach Boy". The staff was somewhat unprofessional and the facilities on the boat did not work well.

This was our second trip to the Melia Puerto Vallarta our last being 4 years ago. It was nice to recognize some of the staff and meet new staff members all were very kind and friendly and ready to engage you in conversation. The food has improved tremendously since our last visit and the upgrades at hotel are noticeable and added to the ambience and gentleness of this hotel. Although kids are welcome they are hardly noticeable with lots of activities to keep them busy. Our room had an excellent view of Bandaras Bay and downtown Puerto Vallarta. We had a very relaxing vacation.

Traveler's tip:

Make sure you book the Rythms of the Night adventure tour at Las Caletas it's a nice bang for the buck. Be in a romantic mood it is lovely.

Aside from sales pitch for Time Share & incorrect posting of activities. My son(11) & I had a great time. The staff were very friendly & helpful. We are both Vegans so we had a limited selection of food choices but there was plenty for you carnivores. Would stay again.

Traveler's tip:

Get your own taxi,s & negotiate. Also bus was only 5.50 pesos. Driver was not honest though as he accepted double when me son gave his fare.

Went for a week. Facilities were nice. Enjoyed the activities they had daily (ping pong tournaments, archery and rifle (pellet gun) competition, bingo, kayaking, and windsurfing. Also went to some of the nightly entertainment things that start at 9:30 every night. Those were not great but we found other things to do. The beach was nice. We didn't actually go in the pool and swam in the ocean the whole time. They had showers all over to rinse off after you got out of the ocean. The food was very tasty and there were many options. The only issue we had was Montezuma's revenge toward the end of the trip. We only ate at the hotel but we didn't really hold back. Had lots of fresh fruit, juice, blended margaritas (which by the way are not very strong if you get them from the pool bar). My wife was better within about 4 days, I had to take some antibiotics and was all good after that. Oh yeah, it was also annoying how they try and get you to take a tour of their "club melia". Sounded too much like a timeshare sale. Was hoping to leave that BS behind at the airport!

Hotel was great. They were constantly cleaning and doing upkeep on it while we were there. The food was really good, something for everyone although the desserts were a little bland. The service was exceptional from the front desk to the maids. The waiters in the restaurants were really friendly and fun. Had a great time and would love to go back.

Don't be afraid to take the buses to downtown. They were definitely an adventure! Stock up on plenty of toiletries and take what you need as the gift shop in the hotel is pricey.

We knew with going to an all-inclusive family hotel there would obviously be children. We had been used to adult only so it was an adjustment for us since we don't have children, however, we still had a very nice time. The food is excellent! It gets a little repetitive, but we went down town a few times which gave us a break and was very nice. I also took adnvantage of the spa and had a great massage by the beach with my husband....very reasonably priced and romantic. If u have children.....this is definitely the place for u!!! Activities for the kids all day by the pool and in the flinstone area. Their are evening shows every night in theatre...one for children and then one for adults. There are shuttles into town at night and they will take to the best places to party for a reasonable open bar price. Overall...if you are going on your honeymoon I would not suggest this place due to the overwhelming amount of kids and also a large mexican population from Guadalajara and Mexico City (not many USA people like other destinations I've been to) but if you have a family....definitely come here!

See my above hotel review...it really sums it up if you are trying to decide on a place.

I couldn't believe how much stuff there was to do at the resort. There was always something going on. We didn't even feel the need to leave the resort. We did ,however check out the mall close by. There is a movie theatre there for those who are interested. The staff was very helpful and professional. No need to go to town for a massage, they are wonderful at the resort! My husband and I took our 18 month old daughter and we had a wonderful time! Would definitely go back!

We booked our hotel transfer through expedia and that was a relief! There are so many timeshare people at the airport and it makes it kind of overwhelming, so it was nice to have someone there waiting for us. It was very hassle free!

As a first time traveler to Puerto Vallarta & The Melia Resort- I feel compelled to describe what this hotel was really like. I had called the hotel before our arrival and asked them to set up a surprise for my boyfriend. The man assured me that he would take care of everything and email Melia in P.V.- Unfortunately- it was never taken care of and the complimentary surprise I had been promised was never fulfilled. I spoke to 5 different people who all told me they didnt check their emails and had no idea what I was talking about. Overall, the food was not very good. If you are a couple- there are a lot of children at this hotel and it definitely has a strong family feel, but it didnt really impact our trip since the pool is so big! Pool bar is good.Overall, we will NOT go back to Melia again. NEVER go to mexico July 4th or 5th if you want to drink. NO ONE told us this is their election and there is no drinking or serving of alcohol permitted in the ENTIRE country. This really put a damper on our weekend and the fact that the hotel didnt care made it worse. Finally the last night there was a thunderstorm and pipes burst in the lobby. I wonder what this hotel would do in the case of a hurricane. Ultimately,Its a nice hotel with nice grounds and nice people, but our trip was ruined by the hotel's lack of accomodations :(

Traveler's tip:

We decided to eat outside of the hotel and had FANTASTIC dinners at Cafe de Artistas The River Cafe, and Theirry's Steakhouse. I would definitely recommend that you eat elsewhere if you are staying at Melia.
