This hotel had the best, most peaceful atmosphere. It was clean, modern, quiet, and all around perfect. The cabanas are a wonderful place to spend the "pool/beach" days of your vacation. Everyone was so helpful, I would go back in a minute!
Traveler's tip:
La Habichuela was wonderful upscale Mexican food. The beef tips were great and the Mayan coffee is quite a show! Chichčn Itzŕ is a can't miss trip and the jungle tour was fabulous. Looking for authentic Mexican food? Take a taxi to Market 28 in downtown Cancún.

New building project next door was a little noisy at times but when coming from living in Beijing we hardly noticed it!
Traveler's tip:
Loads of places to eat. Lovely restaurants along the Cancun lagoon. We particularly liked "Lorenzillos".

This hotel is said to be one of the top 3 hotels in Canun.. I was very impressed with the staff. Most of them remebered our name from only one encounter. Our room was cleaned twice a day. When we went to the hotels breakfast buffet in the morning, they were very attentive. After i made my plate they would happily take the plate from me and carry it to my table. The waiter would remember our drink order from the day before and would have it waiting for us when we came back to the table with our food. Looking forward to going back

Great rooms, pools, gym, and breakfast buffet. Construction in the adjacent lot disrupted the atmosphere at the pool. The hotel's beach is very narrow; at high tide the beach is nonexistent.

This was our first stay in Cancun. Extremely impressed with hotel, staff and concierge. From the moment we checked in and received our mango juice, we felt the first class treatment of this hotel. Our family of 5 (3 kids-ages6,12,16) all enjoyed the stay. I travel all over the world and this was one of the overall best hotels I have been to. With family with 3 kids, plenty of various requests made to the staff and they were always prompt and friendly. Only negatives to note; beaches are small in this stretch of the hotel zone , water would often come up to the steps that lead out to the beach area. Kids still found areas though to build their sand castles! There is construction going on next door(to the south). Didn't find it too annoying as work going on at higher levels as of late March'09, and the sound was hardly noticeable down at pool level. You start to lose sunshine at the pools not very late in the afternoon as it gets blocked by the hotel construction. Pool staff was always helpful. We rented cabanas twice while we were there, couple other days we arrived at the pool mid afternoon and they didn't charge for their use. Our kids are asking if we can come back again next year and stay at the same hotel... that's always a good barometer. Almost forgot...upon check out, they had a cake waiting for our daughter who turned 16 during our stay. The really impressive part is that we had mentioned her birthday only one time to the hostess at the hotel restaurant days earlier.
Traveler's tip:
Other reviews mention being nickeled and dimed for everything at this hotel..didn't find that. Minibar stuff is always expensive..if you don't like the prices don't eat from the minibar. They DON'T charge for the coffee in the room as some reviews mentioned. only get charged if you order additional bags beyond the one complimentary bag. Take the buses for cheap travel. Know price before leaving the hotel, have correct amount of pesos. Some drivers will try to overcharge you if you let them

I've been to this hotel three times -- 2004, 2005 and 2009. Although we still had a very nice stay, the hotel has definitely changed over the last few years. The #1 biggest change -- lots of kids! I'm not sure if they were running a promotion or positioning the hotel differently, but we were overrun by toddlers and teens in the pool. Service is not quite as top notch as before; it feels like there are less employees now. I know Mexican tourism is hurting and this certainly could be influencing the experience, but it does feel like this has gone from a five star to a four star hotel. A

Beautiful Hotel. Too bad there is another highrise being built next door which limits the sunshine on the pools.

Wonderful hotel -- pools, spa, gym and staff. The only problem is the current (March 2009) construction going on at the hotel next door and the fact that this hotel casts a shadow on the entire pool area at Le Meridien starting in mid-afternoon. You may want to ask for a room that is not facing the pool due to the construction. Otherwise, a lovely hotel and the staff was friendly and accommodating -- superb service.

I'm not a particularly pickie person so you should be surprised that I'm not happy. The first and most obvious thing would be the construction going on next door. It's real eye sore, plus it blocks the sun after a certain point even though you could get about 2 more hours. The walls in our room had water damage and it was still dirty from the people before us in certain places. I was quite satisfied with stay but that is only because I had such a great time outside of the hotel that it made the hotel negligible. Be aware that hotel is perpendicular to the beach which means 40% will have a great view of construction, 40% will have a view of the other hotel, 10% will face inward and 10% will have a view of the beach. Don't think you can convince them to change your room, I tried pretty hard.
Traveler's tip:
Make sure to walk to the main road for great restaurants and shopping. Bus is cheap but it's not necessary if you are a walker.

I have never seen such a clean and nice staff in a hotel before, they make sure they now your name, and they do anything for your time there to be a good time. Me and my kids love it and we were sad to leave.
If you do not like snorkeling and scuba diving don't visit conzumel buying a package for the day it is very boring.

The staff goes out of their way to make your stay memorable. Some will get to know your name and will address you by it. The concierge desk were vey helpful especially in how to use the public transportation system rather than the more expensive taxis.
Traveler's tip:
As mentioned by several others there is construction on one side of the hotel. While I did not noyice the noise the site of the construction takes away from the view when sitting on the balacony. Some of the information mentions their rather expensive buffet breakfast but as an alternative they do have an a la carte menu with reasonably priced items for those that do not want a large breakfast.

Our trip to Cancun was to relax so we didnt want to stay near all the clubs. Le Meridien was a good choice because it's smaller than the other resorts. We didnt know about the construction next door and it did take away from the quietness of the pool. The staff and service were first class. Even though our room faced the construction (as all the rooms on the pool side) we had a nice beach view on the left and the lagoon on the right. The room and bathroom were nice, except for the horrible painting on the wall. The main problem was the lack of dining options. You either go to the pool bar (impossible if it's windy or rainy) or you dine at the very expensive Aioli. We ended up going to other hotels (La Casilla at the Marriott is great). The best for breakfast is the Fiesta Americana Grand Coral Beach (for around $25 you have a wonderful buffet and won't be hungry until dinner). I stayed there before and it's a great hotel, close to all the action. Also, Le Meridien is not off of the main road, so you have to walk about 10min to take the bus (which is worth it; taxis are expensive and the bus is safe). We took the bus to Mercado 28 and afterwards we had a wonderful meal at La Habichuela. There is no public phone inside the Meridien, so to use a phone card (use Telmex cards to call home) you have to walk down the street to the nearest pay phone. The pool is nice, but the beach is small after the hurricane. Le Meridien is a good option if you want a smaller and quieter hotel.
Traveler's tip:
Take the bus! Use phone cards to call home! Buy water/soda/beer and keep in your room because the drinks at the hotel are expensive. You can find several Oxxo convenience stores all around town.

Le Meridien is fantastic! The service cannot be topped. My wife and I recently returned from celebrating our 5th wedding anniversary, and cannot wait to return. The trip started out with American Eagle (notorious for losing luggage) losing my wife's bag. Within two minutes of our arrival to the hotel, while we sipped complimentary beverages, the concierge was on the phone with the airline. Our bag did arrive the next day. I have stayed at 5 star US hotels, and have never received the level of service I received at Le Meridien. The Hotel also has a great restaurant, which treated us like royalty as we celebrated our anniversary dinner. The only negative thing about our stay was the construction going on next door. This meant not being able to leave the sliding door open at night, as workers began hammering at 6 AM. Ask for a room on the other side of the hotel. If you want to go to Isla Majerus, I do suggest the Carribean Fun Day cruise. You can buy a ticket from various tour outfits. I paid $55 and it was well worth it. I also suggest going to the bank and converting cash into pesos to pay with. The exchange rate is very favorable, much more so than the 10 to 1 rate local merchants try to offer you.

Just spent a week at Le Meridian. The entire experience was amazing. The service at the hotel, the pools, the views of the Caribbean, the spa...... I couldn't have asked for more. This hotel is in the quiet part of Cancun, so if you are looking for a wild party scene, this is not your hotel. But if you are looking for complete relaxation and world class food and service, this is the spot!
Traveler's tip:
Ride the local bus from the hotel down to the party zone. Bus fare is less than $1.00, and extremely convenient.

this hotel was alright, but it was not the recomended hotel for a nice vocation. i stayed in the hotel for 7 nights. the room was alright, but was very loud in the middle the night. people were talking and yelling in the hallway. you can hear the shower next room too. the services were not as expected, the receptionist was not helpful at all. if you have questions about the area, you better ask the hotel's security guard. and if you want a big smile from the bellboy, you should pay them big tip, otherwise you won't see any smile in their faces and no one is going to open the door for you. i talked with my husband to the hotels around the area, we saw a very big differences. they were always nice and smile. not even the hotel, but the people too. if i will go back for a vocation, i will not stay in such a horrible hotel.

when look for a hotel, don't just look at the photoes. make sure to ask all the questions that you are concerned.

Its a really good hotel, But they dont offer basic things that many other hotels with best prices offer, like internet and breakfast. 15 AN HOUR to wireless internet is ridiculous. You also need to pay like 35 just to lay down in those beds close to the beach. The rooms are nice, but i would stay in another place cheaper and with more offers. Oh, and its kind of far to downtown and there are no places to have breakfast if you dont wanna eat in the hotel, that is pretty expensive too (28).And the phone calls are an absurd. To every try, even if you dont make a call is $4 dollars. And.. Well, You almost wont have time to stay in the hotel. One week to cancun is not enough, there are maany things to do. I recommend if you pay less for the hotel, cause you will just be there to sleep, believe me.
Traveler's tip:
7 days is not enough in cancun. I would go for 10 days. There are some things that it worth to pay a package, like X-caret(go to the cemetery) and those trips to Xe-Ha, etc. The bus system is pretty good, but i would recommend a hotel closer to the "city" You spend so much time in the bus.. Its pretty far. Go to Chinchin Itza, its better than it looks. Playa de las mujeres, Isla del Carmen, Cozumel to Scooba diving.Well, almost all its nice. But its better when you go out of the hotel zone.

Great hotel...great price, convenience and service. Restaurants were satisfactory (favorite was the room service, but poolside restaurant was good too). Rooms were clean and airy (had 7th floor corner unit facing ocean) and staff was nice and attentive. The pools were the best...you couldnt go wrong with 3 infinity pools, cabana service (#8 had best view) and nachos with guacamole and salsa w/ mango smoothie amidst the backdrop of the caribbean. Thanks for a great stay, Le Meridian!

It's a nice hotel but the food and drinks are too pricey. The alcoholic drinks barely had any alcohol and the food was just ok. On one occasion I asked one of the waiters to make the next round of drinks stronger, and they did. But when I received my bill they had charged double the price for adding the extra alcohol. Honestly, I don't think I'll be staying at Le Meridien again.

We really enjoyed staying at Le Meridien. My only complaint is housekeeping services were very poor. It was hit or miss, and sometimes, we could tell it was a hurried job with cleaning the room. We even found trash in the wastebasket from a previous guest stay. Must visit Coco Bongo nightclub. Awesome entertainment for grownups!
Traveler's tip:
I definitely would not recommend ordering pizza from the nearby Domino's. They sent our order to the wrong hotel, we had to call and practically yell on the phone before we realized their mistake, the pizza came an hour late and it was the wrong order. After we called again and demanded our $$ returned, they sent another pizza, refunded our $$, and we finally ate an hour and a half after we ordered our pizza.
