It was my first time in Cancun with my 2 sons and at first I was a bit concerned about the location as it is on the other side of the hotel zone but, no regrets I really recommend the hotel it is fantastic. Hotel staff were really helpful - we lost one bag on our way there and they dealt with the airline until it was found and delivered. Food was great, and hospitality excellent. We are really looking forward to going back. If you check their website it is exactly as they described it.

Pure Tranquility and Luxury

This hotel is just pure luxury. This is another world compared to the mass-tourism of Cancun 30 min by car to the south. Staff: Great and very attentive. They know you after only a day at the resort. Everything from check-in to waiters to maids is just 100 % we will do whatever to make you feel at home attitude. Food: Very good. The breakfast is the overall highlight it really goes the extra mile. Pools: Wow, I have never in my life seen pools that clean. Beach: Great fine white sand and lots of it which is a nice change from Cancun where most of the playa has been swept away by hurricanes. But the water is not all that exciting if you want to go snorkeling or something like that. Kids: We were there with 3 boys, ages 3, 5 and 6. They had a great time. Even if this is a couple kind of hotel the kids did not feel like they were disturbing anyone. Spa: Just great. The water treatment (do not remember its name) is a must try. Disappointment: In an effort to design everything minimalistic this onsite shop has very few, and super expensive, items. Maybe a cool thought but very flawed in practice. Feels like a communist eastern European shop from 1965 or something. Summary: This is just a perfect luxury get away. My only doubt is if you are the impatient type you might get bored after a few days. There is a long way to go for restaurants, shops, bars or any other kind of action.

My wife and I stayed at La Amada at the end of July into the beginning of August. This was a belated honeymoon trip for us and it was well worth the wait. The staff at La Amada is fantastic, especially Diana and Pablo. This is a very quiet, soothing, and relaxing place that will really give you a chance to recharge your batteries. The rooms are immaculate with housekeeping twice a day including the turn down service. The gourmet breakfast was fantastic. If you eat a little later in the morning and fill up you won't need to eat again until dinner. We brought some snacks with us to munch on during the day. The food at the Isla Grill and Aroma was very good. Probably wouldn't recommend the room service. The beach is beautiful, the water is warm and clear, and whole place is quiet and geared toward helping you relax. We will certainly return.

Traveler's tip:

Bring some snacks with you.

WOW! This place is absolutely wonderful. The accomodations were perfect. The rooms are designed for couples and prob a bit too "open" for kids, as another reviewer stated. For us, it was heavenly. We had a swim up suite with a patio and garden tub just 20 feet from a beautiful pool. Food was fantastic. we did the couple's breakfast as well as the romantic dinner for two on the beach in a gazeebo. This place is meticulously maintained and they bent over backwards to accomodate our every desire. If you are looking to be pampered, look no further. Our last day we did the couples massage and let me tell you, it doesn't get any better!! The spa is amazing, don't miss out. Recommend renting a car if you are going to travel around any as the hotel is a bit off the beaten path, prob 20 mins from downtown. The strip is very busy and this location is exactly what we wanted for some R+R. WE LOVED THIS PLACE and wont stay anywhere else when we go back.

Traveler's tip:

Harry's Steakhouse on the strip is AMAZING. You will never want to eat steak anywhere else. The hotel concierge booked us a fabulous table outside, overlooking the lagoon. If you only the leave the hotel to eat here, DO IT! Check out the Mayan ruins in Tulum (2 hr drive) and snorkeling the adjacent reef. Isla Mujeres is a quick ferry ride(15 mins) and a wonderful place to swim with dolphins, shop and eat.

We spent 8 days at La Amada with our two kids. We loved the hotel, the architecture, the hotel service and the views. We were impressed by the gourmet buffet breakfast but not very happy with the rest of the food options. Being a new hotel, the food variety is limited, a little pretentious and expensive. Loved the pools. The beach is nice, clean,(except for some sort of sea grass that was always carried by the tide...) We really enjoyed roasting marshmallows on Thursdays' special fire on the beach. A great place to relax.

If traveling with kids we would suggest stopping by a supermarket (there's one 15 minutes away from the hotel) to get some goodies that will help you stay in budget, specially if you're staying for more than three days. Fruit, milk, fruit juice, snacks, cereal...

This hotel is first class all the way. Helpful and friendly staff. Nice pools and beach. The meals are very good, and are reasonably priced. The best place to eat dinner is the Isla Grill, the more informal restaurant near the beach. The fresh catch of the day is superb. This place is isolated, so there are no places to walk to for dinners or night life. If you want to get around, rent a car. Otherwise, it is perfect for families, or just for people who want to relax. The hotel is new, so occupancy is limited. No crowds can be a plus.

Traveler's tip:

The Isla Grill closes at 6:00 p.m., so if you can make plans to dine early, it is worth it.

Our trip to La Amada was a family vacation with our 6 and 7 year old daughters. We researched this property and booked it through Expedia last April. It is quiet, remote, very elegant, but laid back. We stayed 3 nights in a 2 floor casita and 2 nights in a penthouse room from June 21-26. We loved the resort and would recommend it. If you are willing to pay the price for a 2 story casita I would recommend upgrading to a penthouse. The penthouse is more than double the floor space an includes a full kitchen. Even the least expensive room is very luxurious. If you only have 2 people in your party I would stay in the least expensive room available.

Stop at a store on the trip from the airport and purchase snacks and drinks. Bottled water is free in the resort rooms. Use the free Kids's Club. Use room service for dinner instead of going to the Aroma restaurant. Children over the age of about 9 or 10 will probably be bored here after a few days. There is a landscaped area just outside the inner gate that is suitable for picture taking. There are a few zoo animals there, too.

Really good vacation. Everything was great. July is a very hot and humid month and it was hard to keep the humidity out of the room, in spite of the air conditioning. Breakfast buffet is AMAZING! The best ever! Staff is wonderful. Limited choice of restaurants (2) but food is good.

Traveler's tip:

Avoid the day trip to Isla Mujeres with BestDay (which I booked through Expedia when I booked the hotel). A loud, bad taste, overcrowded, obnoxious "carnival" and nothing interesting to see. Horrendous experience I could not wait to end! The only bad choice we made. Go on your own if you want to see the island.

My fiance and I took our 1st vacation to Cancun and stayed at the Amada. We are now considering getting married there! The staff was wonderful, the hotel is beautiful and the accommodations were top of the line. I've never experience luxury like this. The breakfast was excellent, we ordered room service and it was quick and delicious! I cant even begin to describe the room, we a suite with a pool, OMG!! The pictures dont let you down. But if you dont have that option, no worries! The hotel was empty enough because of the scare that every pool (3 in total) felt like you had them all to yourself. The beach was pretty great too, but we liked the pools better. They have guest activities like a drink/food tasting and bonfire. So great for a romantic getaway! DEFINITELY RENT A CAR!! AND GO WITH A KNOWN COMPANY (ex. Avis,Hertz)! We usued EuroCar thinking they'd be cheaper and the guy tried to put on hold $1,700USD when I didnt want to take the more expensive insurance. Doubt that happens at the other companies! The hotel is a pretty huge distance from the airport and if you do want to experience some of Cancun's night life then you have to drive there or take a taxi. Basically if you're looking for a romantic luxury quiet getaway stay at the Amada, if you want to party stay at a hotel in the hotel zone.

Traveler's tip:

We did the Dady'O party & dinner package, works great if you want to drink and party there one or two nights, the food wasnt bad but we noticed the following day our stomachs werent happy with us. There is a specific menu that goes with this package and only the manager seems to know what you can and cant eat from it. It is lots of food however but you can only go sit to eat after 8pm. We were up pretty early so waiting until that time we were starved!

I was very impressed by the quality of service provided by all the staff of La Amada hotel. Everybody was extremely kind, friendly and extremely helpful in trying to accomodate our requests and to make the vacation even more enjoyable. The location is also very appealing for people who looks to relax and have a secluded beach. Food, drinks and wine selection were excellent. In conclusion I was very happy to spend my vacation at La Amada and I am looking forward to go back.

We stayed for 5 nights in June and had a fabulous time. We were surprised with a free upgrade to a swim out room which was great! The service, food and everything was just wonderful. Definitely go here if you are looking for a quiet and relaxing vacation. We rented a car at the airport which was very convenient for going out to dinner, etc.

If you are looking for a romantic luxury vacation then this resort is perfect. The staff was wonderful and our stay was very relaxing. The restaurants and room service were also very good but we would have liked to see a little more variety of foods/restaurants to chose from. Altogether we would highly recommned this hotel to anyone that wants to have a more relaxing and quiet vacation in comfort away from all the big party spots. Perfect serenity on a great beach!

I have visited Cancun plenty of times, and this was the best. Water sounds all around, good music, never overpowering, good food, delicious breads, the room in itself a spa and a place to relax and not feel cramped, no one at the beach offering a massage or silver every five minutes (like in Acapulco)... Highly recommended!

Great place to spend time with your loved ones. Not crouded like Cancun but close enough to go in to town for the Cancun experience.

My wife and I came here for our honeymoon and were very sad to leave. The entire Amada staff is the friendliest I've ever seen. They remember your name and are attentive to every detail that might make your stay that much more pleasant. The hotel is beautiful, but at La Amada it's the staff you remember the most. They really shine. While the resort is not in the hotel zone, it is only a 15-min (US$15) taxi ride to the main tourist market downtown. A quick heads-up on a few notable items: the taxi from the aiport to the hotel costs US$80. It's not La Amada's fault, it's the taxi service the airport employs. Going back to the airport and using the taxi service hired by Amada, it only costs US$35. Also, be aware of broken glass in the sea. I never stepped on any, but I collected quite a lot of it and threw it away while snorkling around near the shore. I don't know anyone who got cut, but just be aware. Finally, you may get a taxi driver now and then who wants to stop and show you a couple of sites, for a little extra tip of course. If you're not in a hurry, it's fine and safe. Our driver stopped by the Meca ruins and we were actually pleasantly surprised by the detour.

Traveler's tip:

Bring lots of singles for tipping the staff. They earn it, you'll see. Their attention to detail is amazing, they ALWAYS smile and say hello, and the word "no" is not in their vocabulary. Hotel customers can be demanding sometimes, but they make it look easy.

We drove to the resort from the airport bypassing the Hotel zone. As we drove my wife and I both had this look of apprehension, as we seemed to be the only car heading north on this dim lit road. We finally arrived and were both quite pleased at the "feel" of the hotel. When we got to our room that sealed the deal; it was perfect. The service was top notch and not at all intrusive. This is NOT the place to stay if you are looking for lots of active nightlife. But if what you are seeking is a superb facility, excellent staff service and R&R it can't be beat. We are definitely planning a return and have invited several friends as well. A++!!

Traveler's tip:

Lots of things do but requires transportation. I would suggest renting a car (inexpensive) rather than taxi. Costco, Sam's etc are reasonably close and excellent for shopping for "adult beverages", Cuban cigars, etc. Isla Mujures was a quick ferry ride and was a perfect day trip.
