It was just as impressive as the pictures! Very quaint with lots of atmoshere and 'great' views. Sets right on the street by the major shops & resturants. Walking distance to nearly everything; the beach, warf, and nightlife. I would...and probably will go back to this same hotel.

We were very pleased with the hotel. The staff is very friendly. The layout is very unique and peaceful. The hotel is right in the middle of all the 5th Avenue action. Our room was a bit dark but other than that it was a great stay.

My husband and I stayed at Hotel Quinto Sol for two days while in Playa del Carmen. It's located on the quieter end of 5th Avenue, far away from the bus stations but only 2 blocks from the beach. The staff at the front desk was friendly, helpful, and spoke English well. The rooms were cute, clean, well decorated, and even included a little kitchenette. The bathroom got hot water and had good water pressure. However, the bed was HARD AS A ROCK and the lighting wasn't very good. Also, we asked for a 7:00 am wakeup call, but did not receive the call until 7:45 am. Luckily, we had already woken up, so it wasn't a problem. Overall, I'd say the hotel is a decent value for the price.
Traveler's tip:
There is a little outdoor restaurant called Vagabunda that is just a few feet down the street from the hotel. The food was authentic, yummy, and cheap. I'd definitely recommend eating there, especially for breakfast. We also ate at La Parilla, further down 5th Avenue, which was also pretty good and had fun live mariachi music.

We found this to be a great location. It was close to all the action, but on the end of town, so a little quieter. The staff were wonderful--very friendly and accomodating. We had a room with a kitchen, which was nice, but would have been nicer had it had a microwave oven. The big problem, though, was cleanliness. The maids didn't thoroughly clean the room (not even the floor) and frequently forgot to leave clean glasses, etc. At one point, we came back in the middle of the day, and the maids were buying silver jewelry from a vendor in our room. In spite of this, we would stay there again.

Stayed there April 2007. This is a very charming, small hotel right on 5th Avenue, the main street, although it is on the quieter end. The beach is a two block walk, although not a very pretty walk past a bunch of construction. The staff was also very charming, but didn't speak much English, so unless you speak Spanish don't expect any helpful advice. The rooms and grounds were clean, and had an authentic flavor. Beautiful, though small, garden patio and balcony seating. Hard bed. Jacuzzi is not heated at all. This hotel was definitely worth the money, so if you're on a budget this is a very good three star.
Traveler's tip:
Definitely see Chichen Itza. If you snorkle on Cozumel be careful signing up for snorkle tour right on the boat. We did, but after wondered if Chakunaab would've been better, as the fish were scarce and the reef is better off the south part of the island. The cenotes are awesome! See if you can get a Chichen itza/cenote tour. The tour company Apple was awesome!
