Although I recommend the hotel, it could make some improvements, namely: (1) the restaurant is sub par and overpriced; (2) the new gym on the top floor should have better equipment; (3) the lobby should have free internet service for guests.

The hotel was comfortable - the bathroom a little small but not bad. The service was good and the people very friendly. Good hotel. The beach within walking distance - maybe 5 minutes at the most. Beautiful beach by the way. I would definitely stay there again.

Booked a short weekend to celebrate our 25th anniversary. The restuarants in the hotel were fabulous. The Fantasia was the best. Walking distance to both the beach, casino and other great restaurants. Car rental available right from the lobby which we took advantage of to drive to Luquillo Beach and Old San Juan. The most perfect vacation next to our Honeymoon 25 years ago. We're already making plans to return next year.

Stayed @ the HISJ for the 1st & last day of our trip. Arrived Sun 2 hrs b4 check-in & got our rm even though it wasn't 3:00. Great cause we got 2 take a nap after our flight & b4 sightseeing. Last day was a different story. Arrived @ 3:15 to find our rm not ready. They held our bags & said they'd call us when the rm was ready which should be in a half hr. Had a drink & @ 4:00 went back 2 the front desk to find the status. Turns out it was ready for 15 mins but we'd received no call. Wasted an hour of our last day. They also said they'd bring our bags to our rm. 20 mins later we found it outside a rm 3 doors down unattended along with a dirty dish with ants all over it. I complained to the front desk & they didn't offer us anything. The plate was not removed 'til the next day. As for the grounds: Very clean, spacious & ambient. Landscaping is beautiful. Rms are spacious & comfy. I recommend staying on the lobby side of the hotel. There was less noise, & the rm & terrace were bigger. Last nite we had a poolside rm & there were mosquitos & dampness + the entrances to the rm are directly outside. The pool was nice & heated & open 'til 10pm. Fantasia's was very mediocre & overpriced. Vin Santo Cafe had great food, open late & had nice outdoor seating. I am chalking up the less-than-great service on our last day to it just being REALLY busy. I might give them another chance but would be sure to let them know that I was wary. Overall, I would cautiously recommend it.

The hotel staff was nice. The drive from the airport to the hotel was short and simple. It is close enough to the beachh to go swim in between business meetings. Asian Food restaurant in hotel was great, even late at night when we were the only guests. The breakfast buffet needs some help. Could use WIFI in the rooms. Bring a cable if you need to work in your room. Overall a very good place for business travel

Really suprised at how nice this was for a Holiday Inn. Great pool and fountains for the kids to play inn. I was in PR on a busy weekend so all I could find available was this Holiday Inn. I was extremely suprised at how nice it was. Way over my expectations. Would absolutely stay here again.

We stayed at the hotel for 2 pre-cruise nights. Chose hotel for the price (cheaper than Condado area) and brand name. We had a 1st floor poolside room. The bad: I was not impressed by the room's maintenance. Upon arrival, the room was very humid even with AC on full blast. The night was very humid, though, so although uncomfortable, we understood. The phone cord attaching the cord to the base was unsecure, so when we used the phone, we had to be sure not to pull on the cord too hard. Bathroom was the worst. The shower/toilet area was so small that it was hard to close the door. The toilet was leaking water in the tank, so the toilet either ran all the time, or we manually turned the water on/off on the pipe control. We found a cockroach in the shower twice in one night. There were water stains on the room's corners. Got a few flea bites that I likely got in the room or in hotel restaurants. The good: Bed was comfortable. Customer service was great! The hotel restaurants' food at both the Chinese and the Caribbean/CA cuisine restaurants were the best meals that we ate (compared to isla verde food). Beach is only a block away, but not the blue flag area. Internet is available in room for free via ethernet cord (available at front desk if you don't have your own). We didn't try the wireless available only in hotel's public areas. Pool is nice, but shallow. Hotel wasn't the worst, but in retrospect, I would have chosen somewhere else.

We booked this trip at the last minute and had never been to Puerto Rico before so had no idea what the location close to the airport would be like and I was hesitant. We traveled with our two children and loved this hotel. Convenient to the airport, lots of great food, block and a half walk to the beach, fabulous pool and kid splash zone. This hotel has a couple of great restaurants and coffee / snack bar on the premises. Just down the road on Isla Verde we found Mi Casita as a great breakfast stop, Edith's open 24 hrs and good local food, Metropol has the BEST Mojito I've ever had and good food two. Cabs in the area - negotiate if you can. You have to take a cab from the airport to the hotel unless you rent a car and arrive during the day. The fare varies depending on the number of people and bags you have; plan on $12 - $15 for a five minute ride. We ended up renting a car for most of our trip and wish we had from the start - self park if you want to save a few bucks. If you drive, don't think like a defensive driver, get ready to be on the offense and keep your eyes on the road. Make the trip to the rainforest, the caves and Crash Boat Beach. We loved the island, the food, the people. Even our 11 month old had a great time!

Stayed in 2005, our visit this time was mixed. We requested a room w/balcony, upgraded to a jr suite but we didn't know it until I called downstairs. By the 4th day, our room wasn't completely cleaned, my husband spoke with the manager, who apologized profusely, they moved us to a room w/a balcony which was better. The staff was uneven, the day staff was more attentive; both rooms needed some general maintenance, the knob for the shower didn't work properly in the first room and the toilet rattled after flushing in the second. With that said, we probably would stay here one more time before writing them off. Why? The location is prime, within walking distance to the beach, restaurants, San Juan and Old San Juan and the price is right.

I stayed at the Holyday Inn San Juan at the executive level and it was excelent. The confort of the bed and room impressive. The notice about the pillows was right... it caused sleepiness. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Although it is near the airport you can hardly notice because it has a good noise insulation. The only thing to complain was the space distribution in the bathroom area. Other than that the stay was great and we had a great time.

Hot Water leak inside the room, damage laptop cable, they did laundry all our clothing and shoes, they moved us to another room and room A/C was broken room too hot, we should get a discount but only discount the valet parking. very upset and discomfort.

I was a short drive from Viejo San Juan. The beautiful beach of Isla Verde was only a short walk away. I really enjoyed my trip.

Everything you need is within 5 minutes or less. The hotel is very well kept and beautiful.

My first stay at the Holiday Inn San Juan was in 2005 after ther renovation and I was happy to see that everything looked the same, if not better. A big plus is the addition of the splash park by the pool which is obviously great for kids. The room was very clean and the king size bed I slept in was comfortable. I ordered room service a time or two after exhausting myself taking in too much sun and the service was great as was the food. Another plus is the fact that the beach, Isla Verde, is a block and a half away from the hotel. It is definitely one of the most beautiful in Puerto Rico and you must go at least once. All in all, you won't regret staying at this hotel.

Again, make sure to visit the beach. Ask about tours at the front desk if you're not driving. the taxis can get a bit expensive after a while if you really want to see the island.

The service was outstanding. All staff members were friendly and very attentive. Good and reasonably-priced parking. Great pool for kids and adults and the staff is kid friendly. The lobby and common areas of the main building are nice (I don't know about the guest rooms in the main building). We stayed in a second floor room of the 3 story building adjacent to the pool. There is no elevator. The rooms are tiny and the front doors here face the garbage cans and loading zone of a large franchise restaurant and shopping center. The walls and ceilings had water stains. The carpet was stained. The bathtub tile edges had mold and the frame of the bathroom drop ceiling was rusted. The balcony was large and looked over the beautiful pool but the balcony furniture was dirty and moldy. The bed was large and comfortable. The writing desk was tiny; my laptop barely fit next to the phone but there is free internet via wall jack or wi-fi and there is free wi-fi throughout the hotel common areas and pool. Overall: Great Service; nice facility but needs maintenance and some landscaping to separate the rooms from the garbage.
