Perfectly lovely beach hotel

This was a lovely, quiet, out-of-the way hotel, very close to a practically secluded beach. There are no restaurants nearby, but there is a small grocery store 10 to 15 minutes away on foot. New Englanders will appreciate being able to get Red Sox games on the TV!

The hotel itself would be so beautiful but it is not maintained and very isolated..if you want food or anything its a hike...

Traveler's tip:

To get the most out of your stay in Bermuda location and convenience is evrything..staying at a larger hotel that had amenities makes a huge difference...but if you like alot of peace and quiet then grape bay may be for you.

This hotel needs to first change its name because it is not on the beach. The place is not cared for in a tidy manner and the room is full of smoke. My asthma kept bothering me because of the after effect of the smoke. No one is there to supervise most of the time, it is like a ghost town. Next time I will stay somewhere else for better comfort and service.

Enjoyed my stay, totally relaxed

I totally enjoyed my stay. The hotel is off to itself, not far from Hamilton or Elbow Beach. It was totally quiet, I was told the it was just a slow period. Anyway, I was better for me and my fiance, we had the pool all to ourselves. The staff were very friendly and accommodating, our room was nice. On the down side the continential breakfast was not very good and the restaurant on the premises was not open for breakfast and we never seemed to catch open for lunch or dinner. Other than that, I was not bad for them money, especially in Bermuda.

Traveler's tip:

Definitely, buy the bus pass at the airport. I followed this tip from a previous traveler and it turned out to be well worth the money. We rode the bus all over the island and the pass even covers the ferry. Also, for lunch or a snacks buy food the Marketmart grocery store the prepared food is really good and less expensive than the restaurants. It is really expensive to eat out in Bermuda.

The hotel is located not too far from Hamilton and fairly close to Elbow Beach. The service was excellent, very friendly staff, and quick responses to requests. The bad part is the slow running water and non-operational air conditioning. Overall, I would recommend the place for its location, friendly staff, and a taste of locality ...

We were dazzled by our ocean view, thrilled with its gorgeous private beach but unimpressed with the service (a sullen welcome) and always disappointed in the breakfast: sweetened cereal and dismal pastries (which might have been bearable had there been a way to heat them with a toaster oven). We learned to buy our own fruit. It's half a mile from the main road, so you have to love walking! Try the railroad trail as a shortcut to Elbow Beach. Satori, the hotel restaurant, is not good and usually closed anyway.

Traveler's tip:

Bermuda is a pricey destination and this hotel is among the more economical.

Room was OK, but a/c didn't work well and was too small a unit for the room. The hotel has no internet in the rooms which was poor. The restaurant was very poor and didn't open one night "because of a problem in the kitchen" No alternatives for food offered. Its about a $25 return taxi journey to Hamilton which made dinner expensive. Staff slow to respond to problems. Free breakfast ran out of essentials early each morning (like butter). Place needs a good manager because it has a great location and with only 25 rooms could really be somewhere special.

Hotel is in a lovely area, just 20-30 minutes from airport via taxi. Bit of a hike to the main road (from the hotel) but once there, bus riding is very convenient. I imagine you could hire a taxi for the approximately 1/2 mile distance. Sure beats renting a car! There is a very, very nice beach, just a 3 minute walk from hotel. Hotel staff was just fine. Only "issues" were the LOUD music & guests in hallway & next room, until midnight+. Then the next night, the walls were just "way too thin" on the other side. Certainly not the hotel's fault. Yikes!

Traveler's tip:

Lots of options all over the island. Just review them all in the many tourist books available & make your plan of action. Bus rides only take coins or tokens. Monetary unit can be American currency - very convenient.

Its clean and the rooms are decent. The hotel sits on a hillside with sweeping views of the ocean.Access to the beach is fairly easy, but this hotel is for budget travelers only. It's nearly a mile from the bus stop and main hwy.And if you can afford the taxis in bermuda, then you can afford a nicer hotel with more amenities.

Traveler's tip:

Be prepared to spend an average of $35.00 per meal in bermuda. That does not include drinks and if your single,go to miami or hawaii. This island is short on excitement and attractive single people.

We stayed at Grape Bay for 4 nights in March. I was a little skeptical since I had read mixed reviews, but we couldn't have been happier. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The continental breakfast was very filling, which is great since food is so expensive on the island. Its in a perfect location close to the bus stop and a grocery store. Our room was very clean and a gorgeous view of the ocean. Granted this place is not a resort, but if you want to travel to Bermuda and still have a little money left to eat and play then Grape Bay is a great option. If we ever make it back to Bermuda, we'll definitely stay again.

Loved it! When I read some reviews before the trip, I was a little discouraged, but thought, whatever, the price is right. The place totally exceeded my expectations! The hotel was lovely, very clean, and felt like home! The staff was very friendly and helpful, everyone was awesome. Private Beach is only a couple of minutes walk, it's small but very cute and cozy! We loved the privacy of the beach. The bus stop is about 10 minutes walk from the hotel, so for people who don't mind walking it's perfect. People who mind walking would have to take a taxi to get around. Restaraunt at the hotel serves fantastic food, but they are mostly open just for dinners. There is a grocery store 10-15 min walk from the hotel, and other cafes/restaraunts around. The area is beautiful, and location is just perfect! Me, my husband, and our baby loved it!!!

Traveler's tip:

Get a bus+ferry pass for a few days - the cheapest and best way to get around. If you want to save some money on food, get stuff for lunch in the local grocery store. Once we had roticery chicken from that store for dinner!
