Shabby, run down, sloppy service. The only decent aspect of this hotel are the impressive views of La Quebrada, apart from that forget it. What a shame this old landmark has been allowed to crumble into such a shabby state. Hardly worth a one star rating

The hotel is just ok. We only stayed one night because we needed to move to a less expensive hotel. I would recommend staying in a hotel near Playa Condesa because it's probably the nicest beach area in Acapulco, and also where the good places to go out are. We stayed in a cheap hotel near the Zocalo, and that was nice, except we were far from the good clubs. El Mirador is nice because you can watch the cliff divers, but it really is something you only want to watch once. The beach is not as close, and the swimming pools are ok except there is no bar service there.

The hotel was Ok but as I booked it mainly for the location to The Clavadistas I feel I got my moneys worth. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone that cannot climb LOTS of stairs, as it is on the side of the cliff and there is no other way to get to rooms than walking up hill.

We had high hopes for the El Mirrador. We ask for a special room because this was our aniversary. What we got was a dark musky room. In the evening the disco music started blaring for hours and there was no getting away from it unless you walked blocks from the hotel. The food at the restaurant was adequate but the price was way to high for the quality. Sorry to say but would not stay there again.

Even thou I had to climb up and down stairs because of it's location, ejoyed every minute of my stay. Staff was extremely courteous, room was nicely cleaned every morning. All restaurants, from breakfast to dinner was well served and serviced.

Traveler's tip:

Outside of main strip, but with fabulous view to the ocean

We stayed there for 2 nights in the end of March. I must admit that even though staff spoke very (very!) broken English, it was still possible to get what we needed. We also have arrived way before the check-in time, and got the room pretty soon without long and exhausting wait. The room was ok, the bed was huge, the view from the baclony was fantastic. We could also go and watch divers from the lobby terrace of the hotel. Pool area was beutiful (we didn't try the pool itself - a bit too crowded), but it was perfect spot to watch sunsents. Overall, hotel needs some serious maintenance work to be completed (ie. take care of showers and toilets), but for the price they offer, location is great and service is very adequate. I wouldn't reccomend it for luxury travels (or if so - get the most expensive suite), but for medium-range travellers it's the perfect one. And the view is amazing! And frankly - we loved it!

Traveler's tip:

medium/low-range travellers, great view and sunsets, balanced price/service ratio

The view was AMAZING. You must ask for a room overlooking the Bay if you stay here. That was definitely the highlight of the room. The hotel is very open; the only doors you will find are to the individual rooms. As mentioned by others the beds are VERY hard. I stayed for 4 nights and that was 2 nights more than my back could handle. As a warning, if you are traveling and need to do business this is not the best place: no internet, no fax, no nothing. Also, there arn't any close beaches within walking distance but it has two very nice pools. In terms of the location it is no where near the 'strip' of Acapulco. Although this was relaxing there isn't much to do but walk around the different vendor's shops. If you are going into town take a blue & white bus they're very cheap.

Traveler's tip:

Do a boat tour while you're there but make sure you get the tickets from El Mirador Hotel not the people on the street trying to sell them because El Mirador gets a discounted price.

Like stepping into the 1950's. Mirador Hotel conjures the memories of Hollywood Greats that stayed there in the past. Entertainment provided was fun and service was excellent. We loved having dinner on the balcony dining area and being able to watch the famous Alcapulco cliff divers at the same time. The best part was seeing that Expedia got our room for us at almost a third of the regular cost. The room, at this great price had a great ocean view. No disappointment here. My only advice to this hotel is to provide a bar in the main lobby where the check in desk is to service all the people who sit on the sea view balcony in this area. Seems like there may have been one at one time. Also, to make the main lobby more attractive.

The hotel did not look at all as in the pictures. The room in particular was old and above all not clean. We did not spend even one night there. As soon as we saw it we decided to leave and find ourselves a different one. We wasted the money but at least not the holiday!

Traveler's tip:

The Barbarossa is a great place to spend the night having some drinks and dancing by the sea.. in a pirates style!

This hotel is a good deal for the price, but it is fairly outdated. Stay there either if you know you won't leave hotel premises much or if you have a car and can go wherever you like. The neighborhood around the hotel is dirty and rundown, and there is no beach nearby. Basically, if you want a party scene and/or easy beach access, stay at one of the newer hotels in the central bay area. If you want a cheaper, quiet hotel with awesome ocean and sunset views (and the cliff divers), and don't care about what goes on outside, then this hotel is for you. The hotel staff doesn't seem to know what goes on in Acapulco. All of their advice about where to eat and such was pretty bad.

Traveler's tip:

If you don't mind the neighborhood do the 15-minute walk to the Zocalo for dining and shopping. Also, buses in that area can take you to the Las Vegas Strip-like central area of the big hotels, bars, restaurants, and beaches.

The hotel had a great view. Our room had a balcony which overlooked the ocean. The room was clean. The mattress and pillows were very hard. We had dinner in the restaurant. The food was good. They had a nice floor show. We especially were pleased with the location of our table for dinner. We had a wonderful view of the cliff divers. We were told that the hotel had a new owner and was beginning the process of remodeling. We would stay in the hotel again.

Most beatuful place to stay in Acapulco. When we finally reached the hotel we just made it for the most wonderfull sunsets I have ever seen. You won't get the full of it from the beach hotels. Fantastic pools with one where you actually can dive and swim with aquarium like fish. The experience is so wild that I was gentlly bitten twice by some fish. Plus the divers show from the restaurant. Amazing.

Traveler's tip:

It just couldn't be more perfect, plus cheap.

Hotel El Mirador, in Acapulco, Mexico, was once and still is pretty impressive when you see how it was built into the cliffs overlooking the area where the legendary "La Quebrada Cliff Divers" perform. You can see free shows every day. Having said that, you must be prepared to walk up and down steps. The restaurants serve good authentic Mexican dishes. At dinner, we saw a number of Americans present but at breakfast, my wife and I were just about the only ones there each day. I used the title above because the hotel itself appears to have fallen into a bit of dis-repair. They are working on it and perhaps it will regain some of its previous glory. A big push is on to sell Mexican and international vacationers a "new way to vacation". Perhaps with enough investors, the hotel will be able to finance the repairs needed. Overall, the rooms were clean. The toilet worked, although grudgingly. I had trouble with the shower, but the wife didn't. Some rooms did have ants. Our first room didn't really have a functional lock on the door. The renovated parts of the hotel are part of the "new way to vacation". They deny that it's a time-share, but you decide. The value wasn't bad though. We probably won't stay here next time. Besides, now, we've seen the cliff divers a dozen times. Oh, that attraction causes massive traffic jams in the parking area when tour buses arrive in time for the performances. The divers earn gratuities from the tourists.

Because of the multiple levels of the property, those with walking challenges may want to consider somewhere else. The bathrooms only provide soap, in case you're used to shampoo, conditioner and shower caps. There were no wash cloths or bath mats; only 2 bath towels. You may wish to ask for an extra towel. Guests cannot control the temperature of their air conditioners.

This is an 80 year old hotel built on the side of the cliffs with the pacific ocean at its foot. Arrived Memorial Day during their off season. The room rates were good. I watched the spectacular cliff divers from the hotel restuarant free. However, if you need luxury, this is NOT the hotel for you. Bone up on your spanish and convert your dollars into pesos at the bank and you'll have a really nice time.

After driving through the hectic streets of Acapulco, filled to the brim with cars, tourists, hotels, taxis, and too many buildings to barely glimpse the sea, we rounded a corner and saw a beautiful rocky cove, and then realised with delight it was where we were staying! Check-in and check-out was easy and fast. The receptionist spoke perfect English. We then found our room delightful with views of the sea. After changing we sunbathed in a secluded area beside the 'sea-pool' where we could watch the crabs and fish from the shore. In the evening the hotel offered wondeful views of the cliff divers without us baely having to leave our room. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone thinking of going to Acapulco.

El mirador is a great place to stay, quiet yet active days give you the opportunity to relax and have fun. the divers show speaks for itself, very famous for la quebrada makes you wonder why would you go to Acapulco and not stay at this place. Maybe this hotel do need a little makeover specially the suite's bathroom, but this is not to say that their facilities are more than good.

Traveler's tip:

Stay close by the Zocalo area, do not go to la Diana market ( prices here are just inflated so that you can bargain and still pay twice the price ) Unless you enjoy walking, it's a good idea to rent out a taxi and a driver for a day or two, I paid $10.00 an hour.
