we stayed at dreams 2/16-2/23 with 4 children ages 8-5 and have no complaints. The food was excellent for both adults and kids. The wait for dinner could be long but if you planned ahead and were there when the restaruants open not a wait. Hotel did not seem crowded. Plenty to do for kids. Great club house activities. Staff was very friendly and helpful.

Traveler's tip:

Any explorations to ruins, snorkeling would have been cheaper to book ahead through expedia.

The service at the hotel was impeccible. All the service staff were friendly and helpful. Our two rooms were beautiful and well maintained. The all inclusive aspect was great and the kids loved both the pool and the Kids Club (especially bungy jumping). Adult entertainment in the evening was fun as well. The food was either good or excellent. We espcially liked Portifino, the Italian restaurant. The "health club" wasn't really that. It was a room with a few weight machines and some very outdated cardio equipment. However there were other ways to stay active - tennis, beach volleyball, soccer, etc. I would definately recommend this place, especially families.

It was very nice. The only things I didn't like were that the rooms were dimely lit. It was very hard to see to read after dark. Also, it seemed like no matter what time you called or what you ordered room service took a long time. It also took a long time to get things like extra towels. Other than that the place was great.

Manager will not honor the request for 2 double beds, I had requested and called to confirm about 2 double bed in each room for all three rooms, because traveling with kids. They will only give us rooms with one king size bed. Ask us to sleep with the kids or put the kids on the hard double chair. Took them three hours to check us in the hotel about 6:00pm. one room with heavy smoke smell (we asked for nonsmoking room). Food was ok but with two hours of waiting. Not a four star resort, I have been treated better in the Holiday INNs. Not a nice vacation.

Go there if you want your children sleep in your bed or on the hard chair. Go there if you want to spend a lot of money and treated like you owe them money.

The hotel was very nice. We were impressed with the friendliness of the staff and the eagerness to please. The food was amazing and very bountiful. The pools were great and the beach was right there. We have stayed at other all-inclusive places and found this to be the best yet, we will be considering this resort in the future. We did not take our kids and we may next time they had a lot of things for kids to do but we did not feel that it was only for kids. We had a very romantic vacation.

Traveler's tip:

Be aware that the dress codes for the restraunt are more dressy than it states. Men need shoes for a couple of places and long pants, no shorts. Some of the hosts are more strict on the policy than others.

Dreams Tulum is a delight. Gourmet food, beautiful rooms, and stunning surroundings made for a fabulous holiday. It was perfect for families, couples or friends. The staff went out of their way to make our stay truly memorable. I would love to go back, soon!

The Explorers Club is great for younger kids. Mine are tweens, and they had a wonderful time playing water polo and basketball in the pool, and volleyball and soccer on the grounds. For teenagers there were movies in the disco and teenager time later at the Explorers Club.

Had a great time. The food & the service were both exceptional. Definitly take plenty of dollar bills for tips. Even though you don't have to, it makes a difference in the service. Can't wait to do it again.

Our stay at Dreams Tulum was our first stay at an all-inclusive resort and our first visit to Mexico. My husband and I stayed at the hotel during in February 2008 (early Feb.). The weather was gorgeous and there were few crowds at the hotel and various attractions. Everything about the hotel "wowed" us. We were handed champagne and snacks and hand towels the minute we walked in the lobby to check in. The service during our entire stay (6 days) truly pampered us. The beach at Dreams is gorgeous-- very quiet. The water is crystal clear and the sand is very clean. The hotel is nestled in a rural jungle just 5km north of the Tulum ruins-- a short taxi ride away. The pools at the hotel were fabulous, clean. The food at the on site restaurants is probably what surprised us the most-- it was nothing short of gourmet! We regularly dine out in New Orleans, so we were expecting to be disappointed with the food... but instead we were once again "wowed." There is also some kind of entertainment at the hotel every night; we saw Mayan dancing, heard Cuban salsa music; we even watched the Superbowl on the beach! My husband and I stayed in a Jr. Dreams garden suite which included a jacuzzi and quaint balcony. The room was very clean and spacious. We also went on a tour to Chichen Itza and a local cenote (Ik Kil), which was organized through the hotel. Highly recommended! I simply cannot say enough good things about this all inclusive. We would both go back in a flash.

Traveler's tip:

It's a good idea to book your ride from the Cancun airport in advance (unless you plan to take the bus). We used the service "US Transfer," which operates private shuttles around the Yucatan at reasonable prices. We highly recommend US Transfer. The driver was right on time and the prices (in USD) were determined via email beforehand.

We just returned from a week at Dreams Tulum and had mixed reactions. First of all we were told that our room had 2 Queen beds but they were very small beds, smaller then American full. We had to constantly call for service (room cleaning, tpwels, even toilet paper). We even left a $5.00 tip and it did not help with getting better service. That said, our friends had no trouble with the service in their room. The beach was rocky, so you need Aqua socks but the water was nice. We also really enjoyed the kayaking. I don't generally care for buffets but the breakfast and lunch buffets vere good. The French, Italian and Asian restaurants were nice but were not all open every night. In fact we saved our second visit to the French for our last night. The booklet in our room said it was open but it was closed and we were very disappointed. The nightly entertainment wasn't bad and a few times excellent. The disco was terrible. Dark, musty and very loud. Why not have music out in open air? The bar off the main loby was exceptional, the one's near the beach/pool area just OK. Another reviewer stated that you needed lots of tip money but we found that we only needed to tip a buck here or there for exceptional service. Also, most of the staff was very nice. PS- We didn't bring children but they seemed to have a very nice program and activities for the kids if you are having a family vacation.

The hotel was beautiful. The individual maid service was below satisfactory. We had to ask for refills on the refrigerator daily. They didn't leave coffee for the morning. Sometimes they didn't leave enough clean towels. The food in the seaside grill was good at lunch an breakfast, however the beef was very questionable. It tasted more like goat or venison then beef. I will not go back there again. The pharmacy and guest shop was very overpriced. $20 for suntan sunblock.

Traveler's tip:

The food is very bland. Prepare to ask for any condiments. The service is very slow. Be prepared to wait a long time for meals. We were told ladies needed a skirt to attend the Asian resturant. I purchased a skirt to go and when we arrived there were several ladies in pants and shorts. Either inforce the dress code or do away with it.

Overall, we had a great time. Resort was beautiful and well laid out where everything is close. Service, food, drinks were great. THe room was nice and romantic but the walls were thin and we had kids waking us us in the night. NOT so romantic... Also, there were times we did not have hot water for showers. Would recommend the ATV tour, kayaking, and going to the Tulum ruins. The ATV tour was awesome and well worth the money. Deep sea fishing was a little rough and the water too choppy- maybe should have gotten a massage instead. Overall, the place was gorgeous and would recommend for families. There's tons of things for the kids to do.

This was our 10th anniversary trip and we couldn't have chosen a better resort. The resort staff was incredible. The entire resort was very beautiful and peaceful. It was a nice secluded area that was very different from the hustle and bustle of the "Las Vegas" style atmosphere of Cancun. We didn't take our children, but Dreams had a great children's program. Our only negative (and that is a very small negative in comparison to all of the positives) was the beach. It was very beautiful, but was the water was very rocky. Overall, we can't wait to go back to Dreams Tulum.

Traveler's tip:

Don't put up with any crap from the tour companies that are trying to sell you different tours/excursions to go on. Check with the resort concierge on who to go through to get your best overall experience.

Went after Christmas and spent New Years'. It was beautiful with poinsettias everywhere. The staff and service was great and the food very good. We tried all the resturants and the main buffet and they were all very good. We could go to eat dressed casual or dress-up if you wanted. Upon arrival we were treated to a cool face cloth, warm chocolate-chip cookies and Champagne then upgraded to a suite which was great! The beach was rocky in some area's so water shoes would be handy. The area where the kids play was clear of rocks. The staff kept the beach very clean. The snokeling was great but you had to be a good swimmer to get to the reef. It would be nice if the hotel had a little dock out at the reef. It is a difficult to take older children snorkleing because of this. You can walk the beach for hours and find many treasures and feel very safe. The fitness area is in very bad shape. This was a disappointment considering the rest of the facilitiy. The machines were broken and there are no bathrooms available. The staff at the Gym(David) is great and I would definately recommend the bike tour to the Tulum Ruins.

Traveler's tip:

Stay away from the vendors to the right of you you as you try to exit the airport. Keep walking outside the airport to catch your shuttle. Take the bike trip to Tulum and once in the Ruins pay the little $ extra for the tour. You can tour without a guide but there is so much that the guides tell you that you never learn from the placecards. It can be very warm so bring a backpack and lots of water. The beach is great. There is time for a swim so wear your suit under you clothes.

As with any resort, not everything will be perfect, but Dreams reaches for high acheivement. Our first issue was being put in the 3200 building next door to the laundry building. Sounded like a truck parked outside. The desk staff were less than thrilled at moving us. Many pleases and thank you's went much farther than throwing a scene. New room was excellent, linens, bathroom, etc. Stereo in the room has an integrated ipod deck. Plenty of beer water and soda in the room. DVD/TV. Kids club? Outstanding! Our daughter never wanted to leave. All the restaurants were excellent, although it was easy to see that all the food came from the same kitchen. Wait staff was excellent. Pitch a few bucks even though they do not want you tipping. The pool wait staff remembers who tips. They will take care of you without being overbearing. Do NOT drink the water - or even brush with it. I was sick for two days. Property is well manicured. ATM on site dispenses Pesos and USD. Doctor on property. Small store for miscellaneous items. You can snorkel right on the beach. You will be pleased with your choice of this resort.

Traveler's tip:

Plan a day in Tulum at the ruins and another for Xel-Ha (pronounced Zjell-Hah)

There were a couple of problems with our room that were fixed... after a day or so (hard on my NY-paced nerves, but I got over it). I was celebrating a Big Birthday and we received a room upgrade, complimentary champagne, and at dinner the staff at Portofino paraded out to our beautifully-decorated table with a cake and a song. I would enthusiastically recommend Dreams Tulum and have already started saving to go back.

Traveler's tip:

Take to shuttle van (it stops across the road from the hotel) for sightseeing and shopping in Tulum Pueblo (and even all the way to Playa del Carmen). If you do the bike tour to the ruins (and you should), bring a bathing suit and make sure you allow time to hang out at the beach--it's beautiful!

Dreams Tulum lived up to all of my husband and I's expectations. The resort is absolutely beautiful, with hacienda style buildings and beautifully-kept grounds. The staff was extremely friendly and accommodating. You couldn't pass someone without hearing a friendly "hola", accompanied by a smile. The beach was amazing! We practically lived on it for the duration of our trip. Crisp, clear waters, smooth white sand (we noticed that the staff sifted it each dawn,on our early morning walks to keep it that way). The restaurants served a variety of meals. All in all... a wonderful stay!

Traveler's tip:

Drift down the beach away from the resort to be alone (you don't get the bar service but the solitude is priceless).... perfect for a romantic newlyweds, like ourselves.

Other than the gym equipment, the resort was wonderful. I think the equipment has been around longer than me! If you want a good work out you will have to run their out door track or the beach. You can always use the bikes on site as well. The staff met every need and then some. We will go back, no doubt. Have been to many top resorts and this was our best trip EVER! The temps were great in December!!! And NO CROWDS!

Traveler's tip:

Rent a car instead of taking the shuttle bus to your resort. This lets you, on a whim, travel the small surrounding towns and experience local culture.

This resort was absolutely beautiful! I cannot say enough about how great the food and staff were. Truly a memorable honeymoon for us both. My only slight issue was with the beach at the resort. It was not a good area of ocean for snorkeling which a bit disappointing. All in all, if you are looking for a relaxing vacation this place is it!

Staff amazing and friendly, and the Resort is beautiful. What I love about it the most is that you are not confined to the Hotel. Downtown Tulum is only a bus, taxi or even a bike ride away! The locals are awesome, and Tulum is a very safe town. So if you want the luxury of the Resort, where the variety of the food is amazing, and there are tons of activities, and a beautiful beach, or if you want to experience "real Mexico" and hang out with the locals in Tulum, you can do that. My mom and I took a bike ride (on our own!!) to the Tulum ruins and that was sooooo cool! If you need a pedicure or Mani, head over to MYA's salon right across from Restaurante Mariachi downtown(a very good local place to eat). The owner is great, speaks English and Spanish, it's clean, and she and her partner do great work! They don't do manis and pedis like here in the States, but you'll walk out of there with a 10 dollar pedi that feels and looks like you paid 30 dollars! I love this place! I was there for my cousin's wedding which was beautiful, and I had a blast! I will go back and I am hoping my little sister will get married there! Go Go Go! You'll love it! Forget Cancun and Cozumel! Go to Dreams Resort in Tulum!

Traveler's tip:

The beauty of this place is you can get more than just a Resort experience. You can just pay a dollar for the local bus (which is actually a van...and there's not an actual bus stop...just look for the locals waiting across from the resort for the "bus"), take a bike provided by the hotel, or a 7 dollar taxi into downtown Tulum. There you'll get a taste of how Mexican's really live and hang out. In cities like Cancun and Cozumel, it's so touristy. But Tulum is real...and it's very very safe!

We went to Dreams Tulum early Dec. with our 9 and 5 year old boys. They had so much fun as much as we did. They said they couldn't wait to come back and stay 30 days!!! 30 days? Staff cannot be more friendly than this. They enjoy working and seems like they love their job. Food was much better than other all-inclusive. Beach was little rocky but very clean. I cannot wait to go back in next year!!!

Traveler's tip:

Don't forget to buy the roundtrip transportation. We bought from Best day and it was very good. Another, when you go there bring lots of dallar bills. If you tip the maid, bartender, and food server, they will really appreciate it. They deserve to get some tips!!

This hotel is the best place to spend your vacations. The service is excellent one of the best. Mexican people knows how to treat very well the travelers. There is beautiful and interesting places to know. I hardly recommend Hel-ha is you can spend the all day there....Tulum ruins and Chichen Itza. I also suggest to buy all your souvenirs in Chichen Itza you can negociate and get good prices but real good prices. The food was very good. Our all trip was one of best vacations.....defenitly we are coming back I hope soon!!!!

Traveler's tip:

Try to rent a car....search for good prices. There is so many places to go. Taxis are very expensive you can take colectivos or take taxis that no are affiliate it with the hotel.

Altough we arrived 2 days after hurricane Dean had just passed, our vacation wa still picture perfect. Dreams put us up in their Cancun hotel for 2 days until they finished cleaning up the Tulum location. Not a problem for us since we love Dreans Cancun anyway. On arrival at Tulum we were upgraded to Jr Suites without us having to ask. Beautiful rooms. Spacious elegant and comfy. The bathrooms are big (double sinks, separate shower stall, separate toilet and Jacuzzi tub) elegant and complete. The King bed was great. Service is quick, attentive and friendly. Altough gratuties are included most people tipped anyway. The restaurants are outstanding but the Patio restaurant was closed during our stay. Portofino and Gohan are excellent. The buffet is great with lots of Sushi & Sashimi during lunch along with every type of cuisine you can wish for. The beach was a little rocky probably due to Dean but still looked beautiful. Can't think of a bad thing to say about this hotel. The kid's Explorer club is outstanding. Our only problem was prying the kids away from it. OK, one bad thing, Tulum is far away. On our last day we had to leave by 9:30am to make a 2:30 flight. Not the hotel's fault though. We'd go back in a second.

Traveler's tip:

The Tulum Mayan ruins are a less than 10 minute cab ride away. 7 or 8 bucks each way will get you there. No need for a tour guide.
