Nice hotel, worth the extra to get the 1 BR with kitchenette but then we like to take the bus to the grocery and make our own breakfast and sometimes lunch. Unit looked EXACTLY like the one in the pix. Staff is very helpful. Great location, right in the middle of the golden zone. Short walk to practically everything, even for my 6 yr old and teenager. Very short walk around the pool to the beach. Pool is clean and comfortable, poolside prices are very reasonable, especially at happy hour, and the ceviche is wonderful! Don't bother with Gus Gus across the street, food is okay but the maitre'd will HAMMER you to do a time share and then completely ignore you if you refuse. Heather's Place has better food and atmosphere and is right next to Gus Gus. Los Arcos is a short walk but has excellent food and service. Prices for beer and food are quite competitive in the store located in the hotel near the lobby.

We have been staying at Costa de Oro for many years. We always recommend it to family and friends, even to people we meet in Mazatlan for the next time they coem back. We know the pool staff, the neighborhood and area. We feel safe and comfortable, especially when alone. It is within walking distance to eating and shopping. The Beach is the best for long strolls, and sunset watching. Every time we get dropped off in front, it feels like coming back home after a long time away.

This hotel is located right in the heart of the Golden Zone as they say in these subtitles. The hotel staff are very friendly and go out to help if you have any problems. The Costa De Oro is like home to me now and I almost know all the staff there. They show me respect as I do to them and it pays off in the long run. I hope you all have a chance to exprience this hotel and see what reviews you will give compared to mine. Enjoy you stay.

The hotel is old and the service and maintenance is not good. The air conditioned had a leak and the shower had problems with the water supply and the faucets, it took them some time to fix it. The personel was not very friendly or helpfull. Our room floor was not cleaned during all of our stay. Location is very good.

Beware the 3rd week in March...its spring break for Mexican students and they do know how to party. This hotel is in the middle of the Golden Zone and it was out of control noisy for much of the night, every night. We were satisfied with the accommodations.

Even though the Costa De Oro Hotel is older and not a five star resort, it was a great place to stay. The rooms were comfortable, the beds were typical hard Mexican beds (but to be expected so no complaints.) The view from our room was expectional, overlooking the ocean, with balcony, outside chairs and table included. The hotel has excellent beach access, wonderful swimming pool, great food at restaraunt, the outside bar is fun and the staff warm, inviting, and exceptional with their service. The hotel has a convient money exchange service, grocery store, and all the amenities one would want if staying at a hotel for a place to sleep, relax, and hang out. After reading other reviews I went to this hotel not expecting the best, but figured I was paying for a place to sleep, as I was on vacation and didn't want to spend all day at the hotel. I was more than exceptionally surprised, more than happy with my stay here, and could have stayed at the hotel all day if I so chose and would have been perfectly happy. I would recommend this hotel to anyone who asked me for my advice on a place to stay in mazatlan. Thanks Costa De Oro and Staff for making our trip to Mazatlan so enjoyable and memorable.

I usually give good reviews, but this was not our best stay. The room was too small for 4 people. The shower was the worst ever. You could hear as clear as day into the bathroom from the room. The humidity in the room was awful! When you crawled into bed the sheets felt very damp. It was an awful feeling. The beds were hard as a rock. Insist on getting a matress pad, (you may have to be persistant) that helped a little. The lighting in the room was lacking, could hardly see anything. The drinks were good by pool side. The food was o.k. We took a timeshare tour at this hotel for $200.00 in food and beverage. Well worth that! We only paid a little extra for food and drinks poolside!

Safe place to bring family

The room had huge cockroaches which came out on the walls at night. The kids got sick from the pool, it appears the water is not being filtered or cleaned. The mattress is hard as a rock. The corona we purchased from the bar had mold on the bottle. The gift shop staff is mean and never say "hi" or "thank you".

Nice hotel on beach, good access to food and shopping, staff very friendly, just wished they would have gave more than one towel per person.

This has to be one of the best experiences i have ever had. The service was incredible and the staff was excellent. My wife and i have never experienced such a wonderful experience. I recommend this hotel to anyone who decides to visit.

if you are into expensive beds, furniture and comfort, this is not the place to stay. If you are ineterested in having a wonderful experience regardless of the mateial stuff, this is the hotel for you. I loved how the people are warm and friendly. They would made me feel at home and they made sure that our needs were met. The restaurant has an amazing view, a few feet away from the ocean and with the best sunsets. The hotel gardens and the lobby, are very roomy and a good place to hang out. The hotel is near restaurants, coffee shops, and shopping centers. I especially like how the hotel has character, compared to the other boxy, cold and big hotels in the area.

I've been going to Mazatlan since 1972 and have at several hotels over the years. Costa de Oro has the friendliest staff of any hotel I've stayed at. The only downside is the Pool Bar closes at 6pm, but, there is still service available from the Restaurant Bar (Adobes). There is also another Restaurant/Sports Bar across the street (Tequilas) . Used to be part of the same hotel, but now is seperate--staff also friendly.Suites are very nice--standard rooms are ok, but try the Suites!

Costa de Oro was a nice place. the room was great, food was decent and there was great access to shopping and the beach. the only thing to watch out for are all the time share sales there.
