The hotel was beautiful. It has a big salt water tank in the lobby with nurse sharks and tropical fish. The rooms were beautifully decorated and very roomy. The casino is big and has everything from slots to roulette. Room service is great. And they have a nice selection of wonderful restaurants to choose from. Definitely a hotel to check out next time you are in Puerto Rico.

We stayed at the Condado Plaza and we had a great experience. Staff was coridal friendly from beginning to end. The rooms were very clean and the beds were so comfotable I wish I could have brought one home with us. The only drawback we had were the bagage handlers. We arrived and ask for our bags to be taken to our rooms. 1 hour and 40 minutes later our bags and the other couple we traveled with had not arrived to our rooms. We went down to the lobby and our bags wer still sitting in the lobby with no handler in sight. We took our bags up ourselves and no staff member ever realized that our bags were unaccounted for. The resort, its pools, casino, restaurants are clean and beautiful, but the beach behind it is a small public beach and not kept up very well.

Traveler's tip:

We asked the consierge for a good place to eat. He suggested La Dorada, which was a very bad suggestion. Mahi,Mahi tasted old and covered with sauce. Lobster was definely old with very little meat. On our 2nd ay a cab driver suggested BEBOs restaurant for lunch. The food and service were excellent and prices very reasonable. WE had great "pernil with arroz con habicuelas, platanos. My husband had steak and onions and raved about the taste.

The was my first visit to Puerto Rico and I would definitely go back again. We had a City Vista room, it was gorgeous, spacious, and the private balcony was wonderful especially on the rainy cool nights. The hotel service was exceptional, our request were warmly welcomed and met in a timely fashion. However, the major issue we had was they didn't have enough washclothes. From the moment we arrived until the day we checked out, we had to request washclothes. Apparently they didn't have enough to accommadate the number of large number of hotel guest to restock the rooms during daily cleanings. And another annoying issue was there was only one working elevator for the Laguana side of the hotel, so you can imagine the wait time. Overall it was a great hotel, I would highly recommend staying. One last note avoid the Tony Roma's located within the hotel, the service and food was awful!!

Traveler's tip:

This was not a nightlife hotel. I would recommend staying here if you're looking for a nice relaxing environment. And leave the kids at home.

this hotel was by far the worst experience I've ever had in Puerto Rico! The hotel staff were lazy and very laid back...the beach is very small and yet open to the public. As a result, the beach was dirty. Like most beaches in Puerto Rico the water is crystal clear but it was sad to see that the hotel did not provide maintenance to the beach. The Condado Plaza has definitely fallen off from it's star status! Search around before booking your stay and keep in mind that the internet is not always updated with the current status of the hotel; you may want to call to confirm that what you see is what you get!

Traveler's tip:

Try the "Ropa Vieja" Restaurant in San Juan... it's a skip and a jump from the Condado Plaza hotel! "Delicious"!!!!

The hotel itself is amazing! Great pools, pool bar, beach, etc. It's really close to Old San Juan and there are always taxis/buses to get back and forth. There was construction going on because of the upgrades they were doing but it wasn't bad at all. I was a little disappointed with the concierge service (a little rude), but the staff at the pool area and to get cabs were great and polite. Overall a great stay (very relaxing, the room was awesome), I'd definitely recommend it.

Traveler's tip:

We came on a Sunday and left on a Wednesday. There were definitely less people so more beach/pools to enjoy privately. Take a cab to save some time going to Old San Juan, but it's worth taking the bus back to save some money.

Overall is a great place to stay, one of the bad things wa how expensive the parking was for guests-- $15.98 and $21.00 (in other hotels, is complementary)

Traveler's tip:

Close by to shops, restaurants and nightlife; if planning to take kids the beach is great!, no waves and is not deep.

The hotel was still under construction, which I had seen in other reviews. We had book a city view room for our stay. But because of a delay in the housekeeping that day the staff worked to get us a nother room... We ended up with a Ocean view room.. It was so beautiful. My husband had been their years ago and could not belive how they had changed for the better. We plan on going back once all of the construction is complete to see what they have accomplished.

Even though the hotel is under renovation the hotel was great. The ocean view and the rooms were beautiful. The bed was a little firm, but comfortable. You can walk to the local stores and to the others beaches nearby. The food at the Aqua bar were expensive, but the food was excellent (try the crabmeat or the shrimp quesidilla). Also take a tour of Old San Juan & the Bacardi Rum Distillery. I will definitely be coming back and staying at this hotel. I cant wait to see the complete renovation. Also try the 2 by 2 breakfast at the Italian restaurant. They give you enough food for two people to dine on.

Traveler's tip:

Take a tour of Old San Juan and stop to shop there.

Customer service was great. We found out about a concert that we wanted to attend only 2 days before and employees did the impossible for us. I am very satisfied with the stay at Condado Hotel. I decided to go with this hotel due to the reccomendations and it was well worth reading these suggestions.... This hotel is in San Juan and it is only about 3 miles from Old San Juan. Instead of getting a taxi that would charge about $15.00 I took the bus named " la guagua" in P.R. for only .75. This trip will be repeated.....

Traveler's tip:

Aguaviva is a seafood restaurant, it is a bit pricy but well worth it. The atmosphere is unique in itself. It is right by a Christopher Colombus monument in Old San Juan by the Fort.

We really enjoyed our trip to Puerto Rico. The weather was beautiful and the trip was wonderful. The Condado Plaza was nice, however a lot of the resturants were closed for remodeling. It would have been nice if the hotel renovations had been complete. The staff were very nice and helpful. On one occasion the entry cards to our room did not work, we were told that it was due to having our card near our cellphones/and or near a credit card. It was odd that our cards worked at all other time, except on this one occasion. The view from the Italian resturant was dreamy and the pools were lovely. It seemed as if the pool bars closed a bit early. Overall, it was a lovely trip. We were in walking distance to a lot of resturants. On one occasion we took the bus to Old San Juan for 75 cent.

Prior to booking this hotel, I had read the previous reviews, which were very helpful. I did experience similar situations as mentioned in the reviews. The hotel is still currently under construction and there is no beach (sand areas lay out on)...there's a small area next to the hotel that has sand and is about a few hundred feet wide and long, not much space. There's only one elevator working in the lobby, which is very very slow, and the front desk area is always busy and may have to wait in lines to check in...they are very relaxed and in no hurry. Plus side** - 10-15 minutes from Old San Juan, just have to take the B21 bus in (the last stop in Condado going to the city and the first to be dropped off while coming back). There are tours that you can book at the hotel for decent prices - my friend and I went for the rainforest $45 and Bioluminiscent bay - $85. They have excellent services with the tour companies. Other plus side is that there is a starbucks right outside the hotel (actually attached to it but you have to walk out) and saves money for breakfast if you want a little something quick - and has everything you would find at a starbucks in the states. Rooms were extremely clean and brand new... service was prompt when asked to have the room clean and for extra towels, etc. If I ever go to PR again, may stay somewhere else that has a beach access but would suggest this hotel to someone on a tight budget.

Traveler's tip:

Breakfast/Lunch down the street, I believe a few blocks down is really affordable at Hacienda (sit inside the restaurant in the back near the ocean view window... a beautiful view and a yummy authentic Latin meal for a decent price. Bus ride - 75 cents (EXACT CHANGE) no dollars excepted...wait is about 20 - 30 mins. But the wait back from Old San Juan is not bad. Cabs cost $12 from the hotel to San Fransico Street near the FORT.

The hotel will be beautiful once the renovations are completed. The room decor is sleek but the only problem is that I was unable to adjust the airconditioning. No matter what temperature I set it at it remainded at 56 degrees. For my next visit, I will ask how to fix this at check in without turning it off when going to bed and then turning it back on when the room gets warm. The elevators in the Lagoon wing were not working intermittently, possibly a result of construction.

Traveler's tip:

Ajili Mojili restaurant is only a block and a half away and has excellent food. A definite do not miss.

The only problem is they have construction going on and some areas were inaccessible. Also, we were down to one elevatore with three conventions in the building. (We got to know each other pretty quickly!) The pool bartenders, Sterling, Luiz and Manny were great guys!

Traveler's tip:

Ropa Vieja in walking distance was excellent offering Puertor Rican Cuban fare. Also the Parrot Club. There's a cool lounge at the Normandie Hotel.

We stayed in the main building, which had just finished renovations, and our room was gorgeous. It looked exactly like the pictures on the web. We had a city/lagoon view, and were totally satisfied with it. We actually walked in to an ocean view room and, while the view was nice, it was exactly like ours. Stay on a higher floor for a better view.

Traveler's tip:

Walk into Condado for some great shopping and dining.

When I booked the hotel I was a little unsure about what to expect because some of the reviews were terrible. However, when we arrived we were delighted to see a gorgeous lobby and extremely friendly staff. The rooms are modern and chic and absolutely adorable. The bathroom is amazing. The concierge service was incredible. They practically helped us plan everyday of our trip. They called places for us and made reservations for us. They can answer almost any question. The only complaint I have is that there is construction. However, it only runs from 10:30-5 and cannot be heard from the pool. Besides, there is so much to do in Old San Juan that you shouldn't even be there during those times :)

Traveler's tip:

Things are much more expensive in Puerto Rico. A typical taxi ride is $10-20, just to get around the city.

After reading some of the previous reviews we were a litte apprehensive. But the hotel exceeded our expectations. The hotel was very clean and was bustling with activity and we felt very safe. Instead of site seeing we enjoyed the pool areas. Hubby laid in the shade while I enjoyed the sunny areas. We didn't eat at the hotel but walked to the many resturants in the area. We would definitely stay again!

We decided to stay here because we wanted pools and a beach on the property, but still close to Old San Juan. It was very well furnished, but the hotel has two towers, and the other tower is under renovation. One of the four pools is over there, as well as the fitness center. We still had access, though, so it was okay. Stay in the Ocean Tower, since it is new and complete. We got an ocean view room with a balcony and it was an amazing view.

Traveler's tip:

Take the bus right outside this hotel for .75 to Old San Juan. It is much cheaper than taxis. Also, when in Old San Juan, look for restaurants that are off the beaten path, especially on nights when cruise ships are in port, and you will not have a problem with waiting.
