The room at the resort was clean .The beach was nice great for snorkling lots of wildlife.Good food at the restraunts a little overpriced for what it is, but then again it's a resort in the Caribbean, so you have to live with it.Some, but certainly not all of the wait staff at the Lobster Grille could be a little unfriendly.
Traveler's tip:
Pack a suitcase full of Drygoods ie. Cereals and Granola Bars eliminate buying breakfasts.

th e hotel did not have a lot going on at night for antertment. I found myself look for something to do outside the hotel. Their was lots to do during the day. The people were very nice and help full. I loved looking out my window every mourning at the ocean and the beach.Drink were exspenive over there so we went a a grocery store and but our stuff there and made our own to save money witch worked out get for us. We also rented a scooter for the days we were there instead of taxi witch was cheaper as well and we got to see more and do more the with a tourest bus or taxi. I had alot of fun over St. John the beaches were beautiful.

All rooms were oceanfront, the staff was super friendly, the drinks were stiff and the nightlife at Iggie's never seemed to die.
Traveler's tip:
get a cab... yes, it's quite scary the first 2 hrs, but well worth it the rest of the week.

This hotel had everything we needed for a great vacation. We were treated awesome by all of the staff at both restaurants. The room wasn't all that, but then again, we were only in the room for showers and sleeping, so we didn't care! It was clean and that's all that mattered to us. We were a little surprised by the night life - everyone seemed to call it a night around 10:30 or 11:00. But this place was awesome! We will definitely be back and will stay here. The all inclusive was fantastic, it really helped us to get some much need R&R by not constantly checking how much money we had left. Would definitely recommed this to anyone!

Bolongo Bay is a must stay if staying on St Thomas. The family run resort really gave me and my new wife and great 1st St Thomas visit. The staff and activities are the biggest plus of this resort along with the all-inclusive deal which makes this a great place to stay. The only downsides are the beach was good but the bay itself has alot of seagrass and rocks so bring water shoes. The good side to that is alot of sea life including baby sharks and sea turtles. Also the walls from the room to the outside are a little thin so slightly noisy sometimes. Other than a great place to stay!
Traveler's tip:
All inclusive is a must at Bolongo the prices of the food would definitely drive your bills high so getting the all inclusive gets all your drinks and meals pre-paid plus all premium liquours were including! (PS - Try the single barrel Cruzan rum)

I was very disappointed in the resort. The entire place is in need of some professional work. The room is full of little ants, the toilet did not work properly (it wasn't even securely attached to the floor), the hair dryer did not work, the light above the shower was burned out. The pillows need replaced, the cots have horrible rusted out frames. I just was not impressed. They claim to have the friendliest staff....NOT. The lady who runs the gift shop was very nice, the St Thomas dive staff was wonderful and one of the bell boys. Other than that you felt like a nuisance to the staff. The beach is not that great here either if you want to snorkle or swim. Iggies is a good place to eat though!
Traveler's tip:
Don't, spend the extra money to stay somewhere nicer.

I have stayed here twice. I love the way you can walk straight out to the beach from your room. If I stay on St. Thomas again I would stay here again.

We wanted an affordable resort. Bolongo Bay is relatively simple, but clean. It is right on the beach and there is always something going on. I might not recommend it to someone who wants luxury. We did not get the all inclusive plan, since we planned to be busy, didn't plan to drink at all and didn't plan to be there for every meal. There are two restaurants & bars onsite. We had breakfast at the Lobster Grille every day (try to sit on the upper level) and dinner at Iggies. The Heavenly Days catamaran was about a one minute walk from our room and buying that extra package was great (stay in touch with the activities staff).. We sailed to St. John right from Bolongo Bay which was very cool. We had a positive experience with every staff member. The view from our room was outstanding. I'm not sure if every resort or hotel has such a great view from every room.
Traveler's tip:
smoking was allowed in the restaurants we were at, which was annoying. If you want non-smoking, ask around

Bolongo Bay always has something to do. From the water sports to the night lift at Iggies or the Lobster Grill, you will never find yourself wanting more. The staff are friendly and helpful. Can't forget the wonderful sailboat cruises that are available!
Traveler's tip:
If you are staying for any amount of time, rent a car. Driving on the left is different but it's cheaper than taking a taxi ($12/person 1 way), and you see more of the island!

Beautiful beach, but location is right next to a major roadway that had a lot of noisy truck traffic.

Bolongo Bay is a place for relaxation on the beach. We had a comfortable stay, and would recommended this hotel as an affordable place to stay on St. Thomas. It was convenient to have three restaurants within walking distance, one quite popular in the evenings.

Bolongo Bay Beach Resort was a great value choice for us and we certainly recommend it...especially good for families. The resort sits in the center of a nice, quiet bay and was just what we were looking for (and reasonably priced) with our two year old daughter. It was great to wake up to the beautiful views from our balcony just feet from the sandy beach. The "European plan" worked well for us and we took advantage of the snorkeling equipment, paddle boats, floats and children's toys. We recommend bringing your aqua shoes for the beach. The staff were all friendly. The pool and Lobster Grille setup is nice, but Iggie's was the appropriate dining option for us. We enjoyed the casual dining and one night feasted on the all you can eat crab legs.
Traveler's tip:
Get a rental car and do own excursions. St. Thomas and St. John are too beautiful to just sit in one place. Lots of hills and curves, but better option than the scary taxis. Easy to get around. Just 10-15 minutes in to Charlotte Amalie (shopping and restaurants liked Cuzzin's) and out to Red Hook (ferry to St. John and gorgeous Trunk Bay). Lovely Meghan's Bay is a must. Also visited Coral World/Coki Beach. The airport is 20-25 minutes depending on timing.

Spent the New Year at the Bolongo and had a wonderful time. The hotel is a bit old and shows its age in certain places however the rooms were clean and comfortable. I would recommend the beachfront rooms as you are just steps away from the beach. Iggies restaurant has great food at as good a price as you can get in the USVI. My only complaint would be that the pool is small, however with the wide expanse of beach and beachfront activities, we ended up spending very little time at the pool anyway.
Traveler's tip:
Grups larger than 1 person should rent a car for a couple of days. A one-way taxi ride to most destinations ranges from $6-$13 per person (w/o tip). A rental is roughly $50/ day. The island is small so you can hit a couple of locations per day and not feel rushed. Renting a car for 2 or 3 days out of a week stay should be plenty. They do drive on the left side of the road though so drive slowly and be careful at intersections as the locals can get aggressive.
