Extremely nice place to stay. Away from the traffic congestion and cruise ship craziness, but close enough to make getting around a snap.

Read all reviews on internet - still a little apprehensive concerning location. Five family members spent 3 nights in the high rise location for a family marriage then moved to low rise to relax. I'm so sorry we couldn't spend all seven nights at the Amsterdam. We were in a remodeled two bedroom location with a view of the ocean - fantastic. Clean, new and very comfortable. Ate at Mango's - fine food.

This hotel is great for the price the 2 bedroom apartment as they call it had a great view of the ocean and beach. The balcony was enclosed and only one of my favorite parts of this hotel. Everyone was extreme helpful and with a smile. We found the beds to be hard but called the desk and the housekeepers put a pad under it and we slept like babies then. Each room had it own TV including the sitting area. We would stay here again.
Traveler's tip:
If you don't stay in an all inclusive don't bother going to the supermarket to get food it is really expensive there. Food in general is expensive but the food is like 5 star resaurant food. There are cheaper places downtown take the bus round trip 2.00 per person and there they have your pizza huts and mcd's etc.

We enjoyed our stay at this hotel. The staff was friendly. The room was clean. The convenience of a kitchenette saved us some money. The location is perfect because the beach is right across the street. It's also a few minutes bus ride to shopping malls. We would definitely stay here again.
Traveler's tip:
The bus stop is across the street. The Palm Beach area, which is about a 10-minute bus ride, has a mall and a lot of restaurants. The hotel is also a 10-minute bus ride to downtown. If you want to save some money, the supermarket is only a 7-minute bus ride also. On Thursdays thru Sundays, the hotel restaurant sets up outdoor dining right on the beach so you can watch the beautiful sunset while enjoying your dinner.

The hotel itself is beautiful. The staff is comprised of warm, welcoming, caring indivduals who do their very best to ensure guest satisfaction. In fact, everyone we met in Aruba had the same friendly, warm personalities. We totally enjoyed everyone we had the pleasure of meeting. Eagle Beach is the very best! It's quiet, uncrowded and amazing. Our only complaint at all was with the quality of the beds at Amsterdam Manor. The beds are like torture instruments! They are so hard (we actually stayed in 2 different rooms while there-and the hard bed theme seems to be the norm), it feels like your laying on a wood platform piled high with rocks! The back and joint pain and the sleep deprevation somewhat diminished an otherwise glorious vacation in an otherwise beautiful hotel in paradise.
Traveler's tip:
Keep in mind that the low-rise hotel area seems to cater to visitors from Europe. Things are much more laid back, quiet and peaceful. You hear many different languages spoken- it'w quite pleasurable to see so many people from so many different ethnic and cultural backgrounds simply enjoying the area. But, the high-rise hotel area definitely caters to the "western" appetite for adventure, fun and constant entertainment.

We stayed for 9 days at Amterdam Manor in early June 2007 and had a wonderful time. The 2-bedroom suite we had was perfect for a family of four. It was spacious, had 3 great flat screen TVs, a jacuzzi tub, a wonderful patio. The beach was beautiful and never crowded. It's across a very small street, but traffic was never a problem and it's still close enough to feel like your hotel is on the beach. If we didn't have our kids with us, we would have definitely enjoyed the beach bar and it's 2 for 1 happy hours. The pool was also wonderful -- our kids loved the waterfall. It too was never crowded. Overall a great small hotel that is perfect for all types of visitors (families or couples).
We did the Jolly Pirates 4 1/2 hour tour and had a blast -- even with small kids. We brought "floatie" swimsuits for our 4 and 6 year olds and they floated alongside us while we snorkeled. Seeing the Antilla shipwreck was very cool. Don't bother with the national park -- it's hard to find and not much to do when you get there other than some caves. If you want an off-road adventure, try the area around California Lighthouse.

I found the accomodations to be great, with one exception. The bed was way too firm. It was like sleeping on a board. The bed linens were nice but could not make up for the uncomfortable matress.

Nice beach, nice staff, were upgraded upon arrival. Went from 1 bedroom suite to 2. Once an awhile had a very bad odor around the hotel and beach area. Overall one of the nicest beaches on the strip. Fly's were annoying also.

I, my wife, and our 3 girls (9,11 and 14)traveled to Aruba for the first time over the Easter holiday. I had chosen the Amsterdam Manor Beach Resort after researching it on line (after comparing the Eagle and Palm beach area hotels and their various amenities). We arrived late on thursday evening and were more than a little nervous on what condition we might find our new "home" in for the next week. I am happy to report that the Hotel lived up to all of our expectations. Our suite (S1) was awesome! Quiet, relaxing, internet access, great beach, great location, etc. etc. Perfect for our family of 5. Everyone on the staff (that we had contact with) was friendly, helpful, and truly seemed to care if we were having a good time or not. They continually asked if there was anything they could do to enhance our stay. The only disappointing thing I can think of would be that we wished the room air conditioning worked a little better.
Make sure you rent a car when staying in Aruba. Regarding the Amsterdam Manor, The hotel is located outside of town in the low rise resort area and is about 1 mile down the street from the high rise resort area. You will want to visit this area and downtown on occassion and the car is a useful accessory.

Amsterdam Manor is a great hotel on a great stretch on Eagle Beach. The Manor is designed beautifully, with bright colors, a really neat restaurant and bar, as well as a beachside restaurant for dinner with a sunset view (food and drinks at each are reasonably priced, the 2 for 1 $5 USD happy hour was also a great touch. We were upgraded from our studio to a two bedroom suite, which was quite awesome. I do feel the need to let people know, especially those with small children, that the low rise hotels next to (and including) Amsterdam Manor experience an odor that the front desk told us was the bird sanctuary nearby. When driving behind the resort however, we discovered a wastewater treatment plant complete with a wastewater lagoon that was the real cause of the odor. Apparently, the smell is worse at different times.
Traveler's tip:
Rent a car from Economy Travel (35 dollars a day, all in). Will come in very handy.

We enjoyed the hotel staff who were friendly and helpful. Being located across the street from Eagle Beach was an added bonus. The hotel is quiet being located on the north end of the low rise district. Everything is accesible with convinent bus stops or the staff will call a taxi if you prefer. The hotel resturant provided good to excellent fare. There are plenty of other places to eat in Orangestad or the high rise hotel area if you want added variety. Our biggest complaint would be the bed. The mattress is not that comfortable and the hotel definitely needs to upgrade. The laundry services are not that great either with the driers not working very well and taking too long. All in all though it was a pleasant expirience and we would go back to Amsterdam Manor.

This hotel was extremely clean and staff friendly. The island of Aruba itself was a dissapointing. It felt like being in the South Bronx with the garbage and broken class right few feet away from the beach. Amsterdam hotel's beach is probably the best beach on the island (Eagle Beach), but there are no waves at all. It pays off to bring your own "dry" food with you and cook in your hotel because all restaurants are expensive.
Jolly Pirates snorkeling trip was an awsome experience for our family. The crew was funny, entertaining and not greedy for tips. We took the 3 hour trip and it was plenty to snorkel and see the beautiful "ship" and the fish etc. That we would do again.

My wife and I own a Time Share in Aruba for 1 week, Saturday to Saturday. The past few years we have been adding extra days to our visit to Aruba and have chosen Amsterdam Mannor as our place to stay these extra days. We have always found our room very clean, staff very friendly and helpfull, as well as having enjoyed the on site resturant for breakfast (have not tried the resturant for dinner). Because of its location on Eagle Beach, it is only a walk accross the street to be on the ocean. We now have friends who are planning on staying at Amsterdam Mannor next year for 9 days. If you are looking for a hotel with a lot of action, this is not the place for you. If you are looking for quiet and relaxation you will enjoy this hotel. If you are staying in Aruba without a rental car, there is a bus stop in front of the hotel that gives you a short bus ride into town. We recommend the Ansterdam Mannor.
